Then the venerable Śāradvatīputra said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, this perfectly pure is profound! The Blessed One said: Because it is perfectly pure. Śāradvatīputra asked: For what purity is it profound? The Blessed One said: Śāradvatīputra, because form is perfectly pure, purity is profound. Because feeling is perfectly pure, purity is profound. Because perception is perfectly pure, purity is profound. Because formation is perfectly pure, purity is profound. Because consciousness is perfectly pure, purity is profound. Śāradvatīputra, because the eye is perfectly pure, purity is profound. Because the ear is perfectly pure, purity is profound. Because the nose is perfectly pure, purity is profound.
