Thirtieth Chapter: Showing the Faults of Accumulation. Thirtieth Chapter: Showing the Faults of Accumulation. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in the Bamboo Grove, the Kalandaka site, in Rajagriha. At that time, the Venerable Pilindavatsa was staying with some resident monks. Those monks took medicine from there, gave and received from it, mixed it with food powder, mixed it with each other, and those that were decayed by their own bodies, which were indistinguishable, they ate even at the proper time. They also ate at improper times, and they could not distinguish those foods. Therefore, the monks with few desires rebuked, 'Monks, why do you take medicine from there, give and receive from it, mix it with food powder, mix it with each other, and those that are decayed by your own bodies, which are indistinguishable, they eat even at the proper time. They also eat at improper times, and they cannot distinguish those foods?' They condemned, criticized, and mocked. At that time, the monks reported this matter to the Bhagavan. Then, because of this event, this origin, this occasion, the Bhagavan convened the Sangha of monks, as mentioned before. The Buddhas, the Bhagavan, knowingly committed offenses, etc., also as mentioned before. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, rebuked the resident monks who were staying with the Venerable Pilindavatsa: 'Monks, is it true that you take medicine from there, give and receive from it, mix it with food powder, mix it with each other, and those that are decayed by your own bodies, which are indistinguishable, they eat even at the proper time. They also eat at improper times, and you cannot distinguish those foods?' The monks replied, 'Yes, Bhagavan.' The Buddha, the Bhagavan, condemned those who are difficult to nourish, difficult to satisfy, have great desires, and are not content. Then, the Bhagavan praised those who are easy to nourish, easy to satisfy, have few desires, are content, and the qualities of practice, beauty, and warm wisdom.
