Do not argue, be uniquely superior, speak with one voice, and become like water and milk mixed together. If you can also clarify the teachings of the Teacher, you will attain happiness. O venerable one, abandon this basis for creating division in the Sangha! Thus should you admonish him. The monks should admonish that monk in this way. If he abandons that basis, that is good. If he does not abandon it, then for the sake of having him abandon that basis, he should be admonished correctly two or three times. He should be taught correctly. When he is admonished correctly two or three times and taught correctly, if he abandons that basis, that is good. If he does not abandon it, it is a Sanghavasesa. If there are one or two or many places where there are monks who befriend that monk and follow after words of discord, and if they say to the monks, 'Venerable ones, whether you are virtuous or sinful, do not say anything to this monk. Why is that? Venerable ones, this monk is a speaker of the Dharma, a speaker of the Vinaya. This monk has correctly taken up the Dharma and the Vinaya, completely grasped them, and then explains them. This monk speaks knowingly, not unknowingly. Whatever this monk likes and tolerates, we also like and tolerate.' If they say this, the monks should say to those monks, 'Venerable ones, do not say that. Venerable ones, whether you are virtuous or sinful, do not say anything to this monk. Why is that? Venerable ones, this monk is not a speaker of the Dharma, not a speaker of the Vinaya. Venerable ones, this monk is a speaker of what is not Dharma, a speaker of what is not Vinaya. This monk has correctly taken up what is not Dharma and what is not Vinaya,'

Having fully grasped it, subsequently proceed to name it. This monk speaks without knowing, for he does not truly know. Venerable ones, do not approve of or tolerate what this monk likes and tolerates. Venerable ones, do not wish to divide the Sangha, but rather wish for the Sangha to be in harmony. May the Sangha be harmonious and undivided, may everyone be happy and not quarrelsome, with one opinion and one voice, like water and milk mixed together. If you illuminate the Buddha's teachings, you will abide in happiness. One should admonish, saying: Venerable ones, abandon this person who follows the division of the Sangha and speaks discordantly. When the monks admonish those monks in this way, if they abandon that basis, that is good. If they do not abandon it, in order to make them abandon that basis, they should be admonished two or three times, and taught correctly. Having admonished two or three times and taught correctly, if they abandon those bases, that is good. If they do not abandon them, it is a Sanghavasesa offense. If many monks dwell near a village or town, and they are destroyers of families, practicing all kinds of evil deeds, if they see, hear, or fully know that they are destroying families, see, hear, or fully know that they are practicing evil, the monks should say to those monks: Venerable ones, you are destroyers of families, practicing all kinds of evil deeds, and you have seen, heard, and fully know that you are destroying families, and you have seen, heard, and fully know that you are practicing evil. Venerable ones, is it enough for you to stay here? Depart from this place! They should be admonished in this way. If they say to the monks: Venerable ones, here some monks act out of partiality, act out of hatred, act out of delusion, act out of fear, therefore, merely because of similar downfalls, some monks are expelled, and some monks are not expelled. To those monks, the monks

Thus it is said, Venerables, you say thus, Venerables, here some monks act out of desire, act out of hatred, act out of delusion, act out of fear. Thus, only because of similar downfalls, some monks are expelled, and some are not expelled. Do not say this. Why is that? These monks do not act out of desire, do not act out of hatred, do not act out of delusion, do not act out of fear, but these Venerables themselves destroy families and practice all sinful dharmas. You yourselves have seen, heard, and fully known that families are being destroyed, and you have also seen, heard, and fully known that all sins are being practiced. Venerables, it should be instructed to abandon the path of speech that acts out of desire, to abandon acting out of hatred, to abandon acting out of delusion, to abandon the path of speech that acts out of fear. When the monks instruct those monks in this way, if they abandon that matter, then it is very good. If they do not abandon it, then in order to abandon that matter, they should be admonished and truly shown two or three times. After being admonished and truly shown two or three times, if they abandon that matter, then it is very good. If they do not abandon it, then it is a Sanghavasesa. Here, some monks become unwilling to listen to teachings, and when the monks speak in accordance with the Dharma and in accordance with the Vinaya with the training rules that belong to recitation and with the sutras that belong to the Sugata, the Venerables say: Whether you are good or bad, do not say anything to me. Whether I am good or bad, I will not say anything to the Venerables. Venerables, please abandon your words to me. What is the use of me saying anything to you? If they do not make a self-declaration like this, then the monks should say to that monk: Venerable, when the monks speak in accordance with the Dharma with the training rules that belong to recitation and with the sutras that belong to the Sugata,
