D982 @#. In Sanskrit: Ārya Rasmi Vimala Vishuddhe Prabha Nāma Dhāraṇī. In Tibetan: The Dhāraṇī Called 'Noble Light, Immaculate, Pure Light.' Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Thus have I heard: At one time, the Blessed One was dwelling in the great city of Kapilavastu, in the great surrounding hall of the palace, together with a great community of monks and a great multitude of Bodhisattvas, great beings. Namely, the Bodhisattva great beings who completely eliminate all obscurations, Vajrapani, Noble Avalokiteśvara, Mañjuśrī, Wisdom Light, Maitreya, and so forth, countless Bodhisattva great beings, as well as gods, nāgas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, humans, non-humans, and so forth, countless beings, paid homage to the Blessed One, made offerings, showed respect, and were circumambulating him while he was teaching the Dharma. At that time, in the city of Kapilavastu, there lived a great Brahmin named Kapilavastu-candra, who did not believe in the teachings of the Blessed One and held wrong views. At another time, he had a dream, and in the dream it was shown to him: "Great Brahmin, you will die in seven days." Having heard this, the Brahmin was very unhappy and, terrified, thought to himself: "To whom shall I seek refuge for my life?" He also heard that the ascetic Gautama is सर्वज्ञ(sarvajña,all-knowing,all-knowing one), endowed with miraculous powers. "I shall go to him, and if he is truly सर्वज्ञ(sarvajña,all-knowing,all-knowing one), he will surely teach the Dharma to protect those who are afflicted by fear." Having thought this, he went to the Blessed One. From afar, he saw the Blessed One dwelling with a large retinue, and he was hesitant to ask the Blessed One, remaining apprehensive. At that time, the Blessed One, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, who knows the three times, sees all, has no obscurations, knew the Brahmin's thoughts and regarded him with loving compassion.

said: "Great Brahmin, from now on, you will face death in seven days, and you will fall into evil destinies and evil paths, and be born in the Avici Hell. After that, you will successively experience sixteen great hells. After being liberated from hell, you will be reborn as a lowly butcher. After death, you will again be reborn as a pig, constantly eating filthy things, living in mud for a long time, and suffering constantly. Even if you finally obtain a human body, you will be extremely poor, dirty, smelly, ugly, dark, thin, weak, and suffer from leprosy, be disliked by everyone, constantly suffer from hunger, be despised, beaten, and humiliated by people, and be extremely painful." After hearing these words, the Brahmin was terrified and cried with grief in his heart. He prostrated at the feet of the Blessed One and prayed: "Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Perfectly Enlightened One, is the protector and savior of all beings. I confess all my sins. From now on, I will follow the teachings of the Blessed One. Please save me from the suffering of falling into evil destinies, evil paths, and hells." After saying this, the Blessed One said: "Great Brahmin, go to the intersection of the road to Serky City. There is an old and dilapidated stupa containing relics. Rebuild it, erect a life-sustaining pillar on the top of the stupa, put the written secret mantra into it, make offerings, and recite the secret mantra seven times. Your life will be extended, and even if you face death, you will be reborn in the happy heavenly realms, enjoying great blessings. For thousands of hundreds of kalpas, your happiness and blessings will continue to grow. After that, you will be reborn in the pure land of Akshobhya Buddha, enjoying great happiness for countless hundreds of thousands of kalpas. After that, after your death, you will be reborn among the Four Great Kings.

They will be reborn there, and there they will experience inexhaustible happiness and enjoyment for a hundred thousand great kalpas. Wherever they are born in their lifetimes, their minds will be subdued, and there will be no obstacles to their lifespan. All karmic obscurations will be exhausted, and they will never fall into the hell realms. They will always encounter the Buddhas who appear with perfect and complete enlightenment, and they will be remembered by them. Furthermore, if any great Brahmin, whether a monk, a nun, a male lay practitioner, a female lay practitioner, a son of good family, or a daughter of good family, has a short life or suffers from many illnesses, they should repair an old stupa or build a new one. They should write this secret mantra and place it inside, and then clean and make offerings to the mandala. The benefits of this are that even if their lifespan is exhausted, their life will be extended and prolonged. Those who are afflicted by illness and suffering will be liberated from all diseases. They will never be reborn in the lower realms, evil paths, hells, the animal realm, or the world of Yama. They will not even hear the names of these realms, let alone be born there. Then, the Brahmin, hearing these words, was very pleased and thought to repair the damaged stupa. He arose from that assembly and departed. At that time, in that very assembly, a great Bodhisattva named Sarva-nivarana-vishkambhin, the one who completely removes all obscurations, arose from his seat, joined his palms, and said to the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, how should this secret mantra ritual be performed so that merit, goodness, and roots of virtue may be generated?" After he had asked this, the Bhagavan replied: "This, which is called the supreme among the great secret mantras, the great essence, the stainless and completely pure light, should be performed according to the ritual of the great mandala. By the blessings of all the Tathagatas, it will bring benefit and happiness to all sentient beings. If someone hears this secret mantra, even the sins of committing the five inexpiable acts will be completely purified. All roots of unwholesomeness, such as stinginess, greed, and jealousy, will also be purified. Even if their lifespan is exhausted, their life will be extended and prolonged, and they will have auspiciousness and goodness."
