In the language of India: Arya Agra Pradipa Dharani Vidya Raja. In the Tibetan language: The Noble Dhāraṇī, the King of Knowledge, the Supreme Lamp. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Thus have I heard at one time. The Blessed One was in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, in Anathapindika's Park, together with a great Sangha of monks, twelve hundred and fifty monks, and many hundreds of thousands of gods and humans, and many hundreds of thousands of Bodhisattvas. They were completely surrounding him, looking at him, and he was teaching the Dharma. From this Buddha-field, passing hundreds of thousands of millions of Buddha-fields, there is a world called Endless Flower. There resides the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha, called Supreme Lamp. He lives, exists, and teaches the Dharma. He sent two Bodhisattvas, called Great Light and Immeasurable Light, to this world of Saha. Then, those two Bodhisattvas went to the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Park, and to where the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha Shakyamuni was. Having arrived, they bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and sat down on one side. Having sat down on one side, those two Bodhisattvas said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, passing hundreds of thousands of millions of Buddha-fields from here, there is a world called Endless Flower. There resides the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha, called Supreme Lamp. He now lives, exists, and teaches the Dharma. Blessed One, that Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened Buddha, Supreme Lamp, sent us two to this world of Saha. Blessed One, does that Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened Buddha, Supreme Lamp, have little harm, little fear, little movement, life, or strength?

以及安乐和没有罪过而安住吗？这样请问。也这样说。此处是人，或非人，或生灵，或食肉者，或夜叉，或罗刹，或鸠槃荼，或鸠槃荼的统领，或国王，或大臣，或盗贼，或蛇，或虫，或鲁达虫，或铁粉蜂，或任何近分的烦恼，没有作损害的吗？这样说。为了众生的利益，和医药，和安乐，和具有光彩，和具有威严，和具有名声，和具有功德，和具有力量，和具有颜色，和守护，和隐藏，和救护的缘故，薄伽梵如来应供正等觉灯的胜者，也说了陀罗尼的秘密咒语的根本，就像这样：匝列匝列，匝列嘎德，吽咕，穆咕，桑玛德，玛哈桑玛德，玛哈匝列，匝瓦拉美，萨嘿萨嘿，玛哈匝列，乌给穆给，夏美，桑玛德，玛哈桑玛德，玛哈夏美梭哈。然后薄伽梵告诉具寿阿难陀说：阿难陀，你受持这些秘密咒语的根本，读诵，念诵，背诵，完全通达，也为其他众生广大的开示。阿难陀，佛陀出世难以获得。陀罗尼的秘密咒语的根本难以获得。阿难陀，受持陀罗尼的秘密咒语的根本也极其难以获得。阿难陀，无论是善男子，还是善女子，谁受持这些陀罗尼的秘密咒语的根本，和领受，和执持，和读诵，和完全通达，也为其他众生广大的开示，那将在七世中忆念前世。今生也除了以前的业之外，从其他一切的损害中完全的解脱，和一切的行相随顺。阿难陀，这些陀罗尼的秘密咒语的根本是七十七俱胝佛所说，谁从这些陀罗尼的秘密咒语的根本中超

and dwell in peace and without transgression? Thus he inquired. Thus he also spoke. Is there here a human, or a non-human, or a spirit, or a flesh-eater, or a yaksha, or a rakshasa, or a kumbhanda, or a chief of kumbhandas, or a king, or a great minister, or a thief, or a snake, or an insect, or a luta insect, or an iron powder bee, or any of the near afflictions, that do no harm? Thus he spoke. For the sake of the benefit of sentient beings, and medicine, and happiness, and to be endowed with radiance, and to be endowed with majesty, and to be endowed with fame, and to be endowed with qualities, and to be endowed with strength, and to be endowed with color, and for the sake of protection, and concealment, and rescue, the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Complete Buddha, the supreme lamp, also bestowed these roots of the secret mantra of the dharani, like this: Jvale Jvale, Jvale Gate, Hukku, Mukku, Samate, Maha Samate, Maha Jvale, Jvala Me, Sahe Sahe, Maha Jvale, Ukke Mukke, Shame, Samate, Maha Samate, Maha Shame Svaha. Then the Blessed One spoke to the venerable Ananda: Ananda, hold these roots of the secret mantra, read, recite, memorize, fully understand, and also widely teach them to other beings. Ananda, it is difficult to find the appearance of a Buddha. It is difficult to find the roots of the secret mantra of the dharani. Ananda, it is also extremely difficult to hold the roots of the secret mantra of the dharani. Ananda, whether it is a son of good family or a daughter of good family, whoever holds these roots of the secret mantra of the dharani, and receives, and cherishes, and recites, and fully understands, and also widely teaches them to other beings, that one will remember past lives in seven lifetimes. In this very life, apart from previous karma, one will be completely liberated from all other harms, and will be in accordance with all beings. Ananda, these roots of the secret mantra of the dharani were spoken by seventy-seven kotis of Buddhas, whoever transcends these roots of the secret mantra of the dharani
