Look intently and attentively, gaze far at the high mountain peak. Sometimes the mind is agitated, and everything comes to mind, the heart is uneasy, unable to sit still. This is also a distinction of experience. At that time, the body and mind are calm and relaxed, let the mind relax and go wherever it wants. Gaze far, abide, and then return to oneself. The fourth experience is like a great ocean, abiding calmly within it, thoughts do not harm meditation, all memories appear as meditation. Like snowflakes falling into the ocean, or waves dissolving into water. At that time, integrate all actions into it, eating, walking, talking, meditating, sleeping, waking, working, meditating, whatever arises is the wheel of meditation. In all such moments, visualize oneself as a radiant lotus. From Ngayab Ling to Oddiyana, and all the Lamas with faith, come like a blizzard, visualize them dissolving into one's heart. This is the profound instruction for the entry of blessings. If blessings enter, experience and realization, even if unwanted, will arise involuntarily. If blessings do not enter, even if one retreats and meditates for a hundred years, the great seal cannot be born. Whether blessings enter or not depends on the magnitude of faith and devotion. For those without faith and devotion, blessings cannot enter. If one prays with intense devotion, it is impossible for blessings not to enter. Therefore, to the great Oddiyana and all related Lamas, generate faith and reverence, son of lineage. To practice single-mindedly and to serve the Lama, these two are the same, the same, the same, but service is more excellent. To generate experience and realization, service is more excellent. To purify sins and obscurations, service is more excellent. To enter blessings, service is more excellent. These are not my personal opinions, but the common teachings of the Sutras, Tantras, and accomplished ones. Therefore, serve the Lama, do not think that you cannot practice because you have no leisure, no ability, and are disturbed by many things, but constantly guard your own mind, do not abandon it. When staying in the mountains for retreat, get up early and sleep late, straighten your posture. When preparing mantras, tormas, and offerings in the mountains, and when walking, sitting, eating, drinking, and making fire, do things slowly and guard your own mind. In all times and situations, like protecting a bowl filled with butter, know how to guard your own mind, be careful not to be distracted. This book that I have written, do not put it in a pile of old books, but read it often, and with your mind.

To combine with that. There is no doubt that experience and realization will arise. In the Dharma talks of many monthly teachings, It is difficult for such straightforward explanations to occur. Even if you hear it once, you will forget and leave. This example does not exist among teachers. Thus, this writing by the one named Ra, With a good mind of benefiting others, May it be absorbed into the heart of the child! May auspicious glory shine and become the ornament of the world! Mangalam! ༈ Profound Oral Instructions Introducing Shamatha and Vipassana. Namo Ratna Trayāya (Sanskrit: नमो रत्नत्रयाय, Romanization: Namo Ratna Trayāya, Meaning: Homage to the Three Jewels). The root of meditation is the two, Shamatha and Vipassana, Although it has been known from before, But because great increase does not arise, Therefore, Dharma and worldly activities, Important things are done as the main things, Meditation is done as a side activity, therefore, When doing this retreat this time, Let go of other activities from your mind, Focus your awareness on meditation. Visualize yourself as the red and yellow form of Amitayus, As clear as a rainbow in the sky. In the center of your heart, visualize the white Amitayus father and mother. Visualize them as small, radiant, and luminous, In an instant, focus your awareness on this, If you abide without distraction for a long time, Then the Shamatha with signs is formed. First, generate a strong intention, Thinking that your own body is Amitayus. Then, without meditating on an object, Let the mind look at the mind and abide, Without distraction, abide flickering like a flame, This is the accomplishment of signless Shamatha. When looking at the nature of abiding, With Vipassana, see emptiness. This is called the arising of Vipassana. Abiding and emptiness, the two, Abiding is emptiness, and emptiness is abiding, This is called the union of Shamatha and Vipassana. The main practice is to do this. Even if there is much non-abiding and distraction, Do not reject distraction, but look at it loosely. Like a water wave dissolving into water, See distraction itself as emptiness. On top of distraction, Vipassana arises. Without distinguishing between abiding and distraction, Relax, and look at whatever arises in relaxation. Without harming the abiding, Even if a little distraction arises, Do not worry about it, do not harm it, Shamatha is like a small, still lake, Vipassana is like a fish darting about, Meditate better from that, Even if there is much distraction, Abiding will not harm the experience, Like rain falling into a lake, Unlike before, it is easy to protect, This is called the integration of abiding and distraction. Now, when abiding, I feel very happy. Mahamudra Oral Instructions.
