Fools eat their own flesh. The strong pierce and devour the weak. Some weak ones are swallowed whole by the strong. The Nagas harm others with jealousy and stinginess. The Garudas and birds suffer from the fear of disease. Some die from the depletion of flesh, skin, and oil. Some are burdened with heavy loads and struck with iron. Having been cared for with wool and milk for a long time, They are separated from life when they become slightly old or dry. May all these sufferings ripen upon me! May I, through virtue, bring them to a state of ease! By merely looking, even the Ganges River dries up. Some see food as pus, blood, and poison. The smell of food travels hundreds of leagues. Unable to find food, they collapse from exhaustion. Some are colored like the eye of a needle, The belly as large as a country suffers from hunger. The extremely thin throat is full of branches. Some burn intensely after eating and drinking. Even though the internal organs and heart are burned, they cannot die. Experiencing the suffering of five hundred months and days the same, they are truly pitiful. May all these sufferings ripen upon me! May I, through virtue, make them wealthy! Here, a person is stabbed intensely by three hundred short spears, that suffering is unbearable. One surpasses the other, attacking each other with many weapons. Some have black lines drawn on their bodies, and their bodies are sawn into pieces with red-hot iron saws. Some are squeezed between red-hot iron mountains. Some are nailed to a red-hot three-pronged stake, pierced through the soles of both feet and the path of excretion. Pierced through both shoulders and the crown of the head. Some are completely surrounded by a fence of fire, uttering extremely unbearable wails and cries. Some have boiling hot water poured into their mouths, all the internal organs are burned, and flames ignite in the holes, but they cannot die, experiencing immeasurable suffering. Some are boiled in a large iron cauldron, like vegetables, cooked into a single mass. The forest of swords cuts off heads and limbs. The path of razors cuts off feet and shins. The lower half of the body is burned and submerged in flames. Climbing up and down Mount Shalama, the body is torn apart. Red-hot iron birds and dogs pull out brains and intestines. Some are frozen stiff in icy caves, and their bodies are covered with blisters, which burst. They utter sounds of "Ashu, Jye, Hudh" and embrace each other. The bodies become eight and sixteen pieces, countless.

Now. Ulcerated and oozing pus, blood, and serum, Suffering for countless eons, Thinking of the pitiful beings in hell, May their suffering ripen upon me, May I bring them happiness through my virtue. The suffering of beings, with immeasurable causes and effects, Even if I experience it for countless eons, May I not generate even a moment of weariness or regret, May the armor of bodhichitta be firm. May the accumulation of virtue of myself and all beings in the three times, And the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Shravakas, and Pratyekabuddhas, The accumulation of the two accumulations and pure intention, etc., Through the power and strength of combining all without exception, May not even one sentient being be left behind, May all faults be exhausted and all qualities be perfected, May they attain the state of perfect and complete enlightenment. Until that is attained, in all lifetimes, In that Sukhavati, as the lord of the lineage, May I drink the nectar of his speech without satiety. From now until unsurpassed enlightenment, May I be food for the hungry and wealth for the poor, Medicine for the sick and protection for the frightened, In short, may I become a servant to accomplish the activity of the compassionate Avalokiteshvara, the venerable guru. This was written when I, the seventh Arag Thorpawa, had a very severe outbreak of sores, filling my whole body, and for about three days, the pain was unbearable, as if my whole body was being burned. Even placing it on the essence was difficult, so I only visualized giving and taking. Later, when I had recovered a little, I re-composed the visualizations I had done when I could endure it into verses and wrote them down. Thus, if one sincerely strives to generate bodhichitta and visualize giving and taking when sick, then Phadampa says: "Sickness is not really sickness, but a broom for yogis to sweep away obstacles." Likewise, the essence of Jowo Serlingpa's mind training, with this manifestation, I pray that those of lesser intelligence who share the same karma as me will practice generating bodhichitta and mind training in this way when they are sick. This was written when I was twenty-nine or thirty years old. Root and lineage gurus, yidam deities, and mandala assembly, The Three Jewels and the assembly of Dakki Dharma protectors, The truth of the nature of phenomena, characteristics, cessation, and the path, Through the power of truth of all those who possess truth, And the
