Whatever was done before was for food, clothing, and the affairs of this life, The provisions for the next life are dimly exhausted. O Lama, please know that I must take the essence of this body! Look with compassion upon those who waste their human lives! The outer world is impermanent, destroyed by fire and water. The inner sentient beings are impermanent, body and mind will separate. The seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter are impermanent, changing and passing. The times of day and night steal away precious life. O Lama, please know that I must generate a sense of renunciation! Look with compassion upon those who cling to external phenomena! Of those born in the past, not one has escaped death. People grow old and die, it's only a matter of time. Whether one will die tomorrow is uncertain. One's own death is approaching, yet one does not practice the sacred Dharma. Such a person deceives and fools themselves. Karma and its results are like a reflection in a mirror. This is unfailing.
