Furthermore, since the lineage of oral transmission comes from only about four transmissions, including those originating from the Gongter treasure, it is permissible to trace back to any of the transmissions. Moreover, this mantra also appears in some tantras and is not limited to the Sutra system alone. Just as the Guru Sadhana of Yuthokpa appears as the Anuttarayoga system, this itself is meditated upon as Dren Dzog like Anuttara Atiyoga. Generally, merely hearing the name of the Buddha, the Medicine Guru, King of Lapis Lazuli Light, has boundless benefits: it prevents those who have broken vows from regressing, the deaf can hear, the blind can see clearly, those with incomplete faculties become complete, it benefits all kinds of diseases, liberates from the fear and punishment of kings, purifies the obscurations of stinginess that cause rebirth as a preta, preventing rebirth in that realm, and even if born there, one is quickly liberated. It purifies the obscurations of broken vows and abandoning the Dharma, and it purifies the obscurations of praising oneself and disparaging others due to jealousy. It is said that one cannot be harmed by any slander or harsh words. It is said that the twelve great Yaksha generals, along with their seven hundred thousand attendants, protect and guard, and avert all harm. If merely hearing the name has such benefits, what need is there to mention the benefits of receiving empowerment? To receive such an empowerment, please repeat the following: Guru Vajradhara and all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, the Sugata Medicine Buddhas, the Seven Brothers, please consider me, the teacher. From this time until reaching the essence of enlightenment, please grant me, the teacher, the Bhagavan Medicine Guru, King of Lapis Lazuli Light, as my Yidam. Repeat three times or the following three sentences. Now, please repeat the refuge and bodhicitta: I take refuge in the Three Jewels, I confess all non-virtuous deeds, I rejoice in the virtues of beings, I hold the Buddha's enlightenment in mind. I take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Supreme Assembly, until enlightenment. In order to perfectly accomplish the benefit of myself and others, I generate the supreme mind of enlightenment.
