Preliminary Practices of Black Hayagriva Yangpung: Refuge, Bodhicitta, and White Obstacle Removal. Preliminary Practices of Black Hayagriva Yangpung: Refuge, Bodhicitta, and White Obstacle Removal. Beginning of Preliminary Practices of Black Hayagriva Yangpung: Refuge, Bodhicitta, and White Obstacle Removal. The preliminary practices of refuge and bodhicitta, Guru Yoga, white obstacle offering, blessings, etc., are complete, concise, and appropriate, collected from various terma texts with reliable sources. May it bring great benefit to future generations of new mantra practitioners! The refuge is: Namo to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, may the gurus, yidams, and dakinis heed. The chief of two-legged beings, the Buddha, and the peaceful, detached, holy Dharma. The supreme Sangha, irreversible, I and all beings take refuge. The guru who is the source of blessings, the yidam deity who is the source of siddhis, the dakini who removes obstacles, I and all beings take refuge. The vast and pervasive Dharmakaya, the clear and radiant Sambhogakaya, the diverse and liberating Nirmanakaya, I and all beings pray for refuge. Recite three times. I take refuge in the Bhagavan Padmavang Gyalpo. I take refuge in the five bodies and eight names of Guru Rinpoche. I take refuge in the lineage gurus of the vidyadharas. Please include me in the supreme refuge. The bodhicitta is: May all sentient beings have happiness and the causes of happiness. May all sentient beings be free from suffering and the causes of suffering. May all sentient beings never be separated from the sacred happiness that is without suffering. May all sentient beings be free from attachment and aversion, and abide long in great equanimity. Guru Yoga. For the benefit of all sentient beings, I will attain the state of Buddhahood. For that purpose, I will engage in the practice and recitation of the guru and yidam. Oṃ svabhāva śuddhaḥ sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho 'haṃ. Transform into emptiness. From the state of emptiness, on the crown of my head, from the letter Pam (藏文:པཾ།,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:paṃ,汉语字面意思:邦) arises a lotus, from the letter A (藏文:ཨ།,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:阿) arises a moon, and from the letter Ram (藏文:རཾ།,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:raṃ,汉语字面意思:让) arises a sun disc. Adorned with excellent signs and characteristics, and clothed in the three Dharma robes, abiding in the vajra posture. At its crown is Oṃ (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城體:ओ,梵文羅馬擬音:oṃ,漢語字面意思:嗡). At its throat is Āḥ (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城體:आ,梵文羅馬擬音:āḥ,漢語字面意思:阿). At its heart is Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城體:हूँ,梵文羅馬擬音:hūṃ,漢語字面意思:吽). From Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城體:हूँ,梵文羅馬擬音:hūṃ,漢語字面意思:吽) emanates light, inviting from the state of intrinsic being all the glorious and precious root and lineage gurus, along with all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, the hosts of heroes and dakinis. Vajra samaya jah (藏文:བཛྲ་ས་མ་ཡ་ཛཿ). The guru at the crown dissolves, becoming inseparable. Oṃ āḥ hūṃ, I pray to the glorious root guru. I pray to the guru, the Buddha, the precious one. I pray to the guru, the Dharma body of the Buddha. I pray to the guru, the enjoyment body. I pray to the guru, the emanation body of the Buddha. I pray to the Dharma body, Amitabha. I pray to the enjoyment body, Great Compassionate One. I pray to the emanation body, Padmasambhava. I pray to the dakini Yeshe Tsogyal. I pray to the twenty-five disciples of the king. I pray to the hundred and eight treasure revealers. I pray to the lineage of vidyadharas who received the command. Until the essence of enlightenment, I take refuge in the guru, the Three Jewels, the yidam deity, in the mandala of Padma Wangchen. Please hold me with your compassion. In order to establish all sentient beings without exception on the ground of Buddhahood, we enter and accomplish the mandala of the power of Hayagriva. I take refuge in the deities abiding in the ten directions and three times, the guru, the yidam, the deities of the mandala, and the heroes and dakinis. I prostrate with reverence with body, speech, and mind. I offer outer, inner, and secret offerings. I confess all accumulations of sins. I rejoice in the virtue of myself and others. I urge you to turn the wheel of Dharma. I beseech you not to pass into sorrow but to remain. I dedicate the merit to great enlightenment. Having prayed in this way, the guru dissolves into light. By dissolving into my crown, the guru's body, speech, and mind and my own body, speech, and mind merge inseparably. From the uncorrected, natural state of mind, I instantly become Avalokiteśvara, with a white body, one face, and two arms. The right hand grants boons, the left holds a lotus. Adorned with silk and jewels, seated in a half-lotus posture on a lotus and moon cushion.
