When there is no protector to protect, and no one to impart the true teachings, the previously mentioned merits will be destroyed, and the cause of the decline of the Dharma is those who delight in defilements such as wrong views, and act arbitrarily in this world today. As shown above, the teachings of the Buddhas are like the breath ceasing in the throat at the time of death, and will not last long. Therefore, when defilements such as wrong views are powerful, those who desire liberation should be careful and strive to uphold the Dharma. As it is said in the Pratimoksha Sutra: "Venerable ones, aging and death are imminent, and the teachings of the Teacher will also decline, therefore, venerable ones, practice yoga with diligence." The Bodhi of the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha, and other virtuous dharmas that are in accordance with it, the aspects of Bodhi, are also obtained through diligence, just like this. Because the limbs that are the basis of merit are combined, and the detailed classification and methods of obtaining dhyana and formless samadhi, and the merits that rely on them, such as samadhi, the four immeasurables, liberation, etc., are all realized from this place, therefore, one should listen to this reason.
