That which is obtained by the power of what is said to be that. That cause is like the action of a person on the fruit, so it is the action of a person, such as the medicine Sorpo Kharang and the black crow's foot, etc. Some here think that the cause occurs immediately or simultaneously. The mind of the lower combination is the samadhi of the upper ground, and after the most victorious Dharma of the world, the path of seeing arises, etc., just as the fruit arises from the cause that arises simultaneously. (The mind of meditation is like the mind of transformation. The fruit of the action of the person who obtains is: by the power of what is obtained, that fruit is obtained by the action of the person. It is said that just as it is said, "My wealth has been born," the word person is also used for obtaining wealth. Among them, all those who have cut off the view to be abandoned have both the gradual action of the noble person and the fruit of separation; the preceding detachment only has the fruit of the action of the person.) Some say that the fruit of the action of a person can also be produced from a determined cause, just like the crops of farmers. In this way, it is thought that all fruits are pervaded by the action of a person. (For that fruit, the previous cause becomes meaningless, so depending on the cause) All newly produced conditioned dharmas that have not been produced before (those that are simultaneous with the cause and those that are produced later) are the fruit of all owners of all conditioned dharmas. (For unconditioned dharmas, there is no power to hold the fruit and ripen.) Because it is not an unconditioned dharma, it is said to be "only". So, what is the difference between the fruit of the action of a person and the fruit of the owner? The Vaibhashikas say: (The fruit of the action of a person is only the fruit of the author, while the fruit of the owner is other than the author, and there are others.) The fruit of the action of a person is that the craftsmen are both the action of the craftsman and the fruit of the owner; the transformation beings are both the fruit of the action of the meditation person and the fruit of the owner, while the others are not the fruit of the action of the person. This is determined separately. And the owners, those are also the owners' fruits of all conditioned dharmas, because when those arise, all conditioned dharmas exist without obscuring.

That is what is thought. If that were the case, it would also be an effect of the unconditioned, so it needs to be examined. However, the self-effect is the general, and the other is the particular. The way a cause produces an effect is that the five causes other than the efficient cause, being in the present, hold the effect (seed) in a state of potential. (Holding the effect is having the power to produce the effect, so producing the effect is actually producing the effect.) The past (because it has been grasped) is because the action has ceased, and the future is because the action has not yet arisen, and the efficient cause (although similar to the present) is not said to be potent because it is necessarily accompanied by the effect. How then is the effect produced? The two causes, co-emergent cause and associated cause, because holding and producing the effect are simultaneous, also cause the effect to be fully produced in the present (by its action alone). Among these, producing is arising, meaning that the cause and effect arise simultaneously. The present cause and the past cause produce the effect through the homogenous cause and the all-pervasive cause. Producing in the present is producing immediately (following), while producing in the past is interrupted, not simultaneous, because these produce effects of the same kind, and therefore it is considered to produce subsequent similar kinds. Therefore, here the word "etc." means two, so it should be read as "present past etc." (If there is a wholesome homogenous cause that holds the effect but does not produce the effect? There are four possibilities: The first, holding but not producing the effect, is the last wholesome dharma at the time of cutting off the root of virtue. The second, producing but not holding the effect, is the first wholesome dharma at the time of rebirth. The third, both are, is the remaining situation where the root of virtue has not been cut off. The fourth, neither is, is other than the above situations, such as falling from a high place or cutting off the root of virtue.) The maturation cause only produces the effect in the past, there is no simultaneous or immediate production. Some Abhidharma masters consider the dependent effect to be like the water relying on the wind mandala, and the conative effect to be like the prior path giving rise to the subsequent path.
