The Explanation of the Three Parts, together with the Method of Sending Away Obstacles. The Explanation of the Three Parts, together with the Method of Sending Away Obstacles. The Explanation of the Three Parts, together with the Method of Sending Away Obstacles, is present. Homage! The army of the power, strength, and ability of the boundless Buddhas, The glory of all who hold the gathered knowledge mantras, The lord of all the arrogant eight classes of beings in existence, I bow to the feet of the Bhagavan Vajradhara. Whoever relies on it, adverse conditions are pacified, The means to accomplish desired goals with favorable circumstances, A brief explanation of the Three Parts scripture, which offers to the guardians of the directions and entrusts tasks to the demons. This has three parts: Preliminary general explanation, Explanation of the text itself, Additional explanation. The first is: In general, the Buddha taught many sequences of methods to eliminate adverse conditions and accomplish favorable conditions for those to be tamed. Among them, he taught many ways to make offerings to gods and demons, both transcendent and mundane. In particular, from many mantra practices and the hundred-offering rituals, there are many ways to offer tormas to the guardians of the directions and the classes of demons. The essence of these is what is now known as the Three Parts. Especially for averting immediate adverse conditions, it is considered important to propitiate and urge the guardians of the directions. For in the context of the manifestation mandala of the three, Guhyasamaja, Vajrabhairava and Hevajra, and Kunjed Gyalpo etc., the method of offering tormas to these and entrusting activities is explained in many rituals. Therefore, not only during the time of constructing the mandala, but also when other individuals are possessed by disease and demons, it is very beneficial and also appears in practice to propitiate the guardians of the directions and entrust activities. Offering tormas to the classes of demons and obstructing spirits and entrusting activities also becomes a cause of benefit. The Three Parts appear in three forms, extensive, intermediate, and concise, but it seems that the current practice is done according to the intermediate. In the Great Commentary on Kunrig, it is said that this is a concise version, but it is only a concise version of the intermediate, not a truly concise version. The term "Three Parts" is based on the three tormas, namely the three tormas of the guardians of the directions, demons, and obstructing spirits. In the Vajra Arising, although the first two tormas are not mentioned, Jowo Sherab said to make the obstructing spirit torma, making three.

Oṃ. In the practice tantra, it says: "Place various kinds of torma as food for yakshas and rakshasas." Then, make torma for all beings. For hungry and thirsty beings, give food and drink, and observe those who dwell in all directions. How to make that torma suitable for them? When explaining the meaning of what was said, the Great Commentary says: "Yakshas and rakshasas, etc., refer to obstacles; those who dwell in all directions, etc., refer to the guardians of the directions; all beings, etc., refer to spirits; hungry and thirsty beings, etc., refer to the torma for pretas, so a total of four types of torma should be made." The mantra for offering is Akarom, or Namah Sarva Tathagata Bhyo, etc., whichever is appropriate. Add it to the end of the respective mantra, whether it is long or short, and offer it. The full name mantra of the guardians of the directions is: Om Rudraya, etc., and the short one is: Om Dasha Dika, etc. The place for offering is outside the practice room when practicing the mandala, but it is difficult to do it exactly like that, so place two waters and offerings, etc., on a platform in any place, as well as the four tormas with decorations, and confess. Regarding the materials for the torma, the Great Commentary says: "Rice, sesame, rice grains, flowers, water, soybeans, oil cakes, the three whites, the three sweets, etc., and especially for the obstacle torma, use meat, alcohol, and radishes." Although zamba is not mentioned explicitly here, it is implied by the word "etc." Now, all tormas are made from zamba, and it is acceptable to do so. Through which deity should it be done? Just as in the Hundred Deities practice, it can be done through Avalokiteśvara, and it is also acceptable to do it with the pride of the main deity of the mandala when practicing the mandala. Acharya Kunsnying said to do it through the yoga of the Hum-making mudra, and the great Vinaya master also said in the Great Commentary to do it in the same way. In current practice, the Hum-making mudra is transformed before the obstacle torma, and it is also acceptable to do so. When making a temporary three-part offering for the sake of the sick, etc., instantly transform yourself into the Hum-making mudra, then invite the wrathful deity, and perform offerings and praises, either long or short, as you wish. After blessing the torma, offer it according to the ritual, and finally recite "Great Mandala," etc.
