In short, this offering is enough. If you want it in detail, especially, to the holy root and lineage lamas, and to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and to the holy Dharma, and to all the noble Sangha, I prostrate and offer, I take refuge. Three times or any appropriate number of times. All of you, the complete resources of gods and humans possessed and not possessed by me, and all the resources arising from the merit and miraculous power of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and all including the Samantabhadra offering, I offer and worship. This is also recited once or three times, etc., as appropriate. In particular, for all the food, clothing, etc. offered in connection with me, and also my body, enjoyment, and roots of virtue, I also offer them well. Please accept! After accepting, please also perfect the assembly of all sentient beings who are the object of my attention. Recite this seven or twenty-one times, and all the collections of sins, obscurations, and faults accumulated by me and those sentient beings through the three doors of body, speech, and mind, I confess, I reveal, I am ashamed, I regret, please purify, please purify! Recite this any appropriate number of times. For the accumulation of merit of the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and noble beings, and all the perfect deeds, and all the white and pure accumulations of goodness accumulated by me and other sentient beings, I also rejoice and praise. I urge all the Buddhas and their retinues to turn the unsurpassed wheel of Dharma. I pray that all of them will not pass into Nirvana, but will always remain in this world. May all sentient beings, including myself, fully accomplish the enlightenment of the Buddha, together with the white and pure accumulation of merit accumulated in this way, together with the accumulation of virtue accumulated in the three times.

Then, pray that you all completely protect me and all sentient beings, especially all sentient beings who, through faith in me, place their hopes, from all the suffering of samsara and the lower realms. Please liberate us. Please cause us to fully attain the enlightenment of a Buddha. Through relying on praying in this way many times, finally, imagine that countless masses of light and nectar arise from the bodies of those objects of refuge, and all the sins and obscurations of myself and those sentient beings are purified. If you do this again and again, you will complete the accumulation of merit and purification of obscurations for both yourself and others, and in particular, it will definitely benefit the object of your focus, become a cause for generating great compassion, and also be able to purify all obscurations related to wealth. Moreover, the arising of the stages of the path of the three types of individuals, and the increase of wisdom, etc., the arising of the qualities of the grounds and paths in the mindstream, depends on accumulating merit and purifying obscurations at the place of the object of refuge. As it says in the Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path: "If there is no simultaneous assistant condition that causes the path to arise in the mindstream, namely accumulating merit and eliminating obstacles, namely purifying obscurations, even if you only strive to purify the causes that lead to the near attainment, it is extremely difficult for the path to arise, so you must purify your mindstream with the seven branches that summarize the essential points of accumulation and purification." Also, as it says in the Subsequent Stages of the Path: "Thus, through the power of planting virtuous roots in a sacred field, the power of the mind increases in the stages of the path, so when the power of the mind is weak, such that you cannot grasp the words when listening, you cannot understand the meaning when thinking, and it does not arise in your mindstream when meditating, relying on the power of the field is the instruction." Therefore, this was written by one called Explaining and Practicing, based on the encouragement of the elder named Patience, who is full of faith and wisdom, saying, "Do it this way, and I will strive to accomplish it," with the thought that it might benefit one or two people.
