If the sky is not obscured, it will be clear. If the water is not turbid, it will be clear. If the mind is not fabricated, it will be happy. To this, it is said: The yogi who knows the nature of the mind, no matter what he does, is in a state of meditation, abiding in the original meaning. This is a description of the experience of Samadhi. And, the arising of the ground of Dharmadhatu wisdom, and the faculties such as the eye, and the consciousnesses such as the eye consciousness, and all objects such as form, although they are the arising and the eighteen elements of the ultimate Dharmadhatu, they are not the arising and the eighteen elements of conventional agreement. Because the characteristic of the conventional ground is hardness, etc., and the characteristic of the eye is not seeing conventional forms, etc. And so on, it is also not the characteristic of the eighteen conventional elements. In the sutra spoken by the noble Immaculate Wisdom, it says: The Dharmadhatu is the element of earth, but the characteristic of the Dharmadhatu is not hardness. The Dharmadhatu is the element of water, but the characteristic of the Dharmadhatu is not moisture. The Dharmadhatu is the element of fire, but the characteristic of the Dharmadhatu is not ripening. The Dharmadhatu is the element of wind, but the characteristic of the Dharmadhatu is not movement. The Dharmadhatu is the element of the eye, but the characteristic of the Dharmadhatu is not seeing. The Dharmadhatu is the element of ear, nose, tongue, body, mind, and eye consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, mind consciousness, but the characteristic of the Dharmadhatu is not hearing, smelling, tasting, touching, distinguishing, and form distinguishing, sound distinguishing, smell distinguishing, taste distinguishing, touch distinguishing, dharma distinguishing, and so on. The Dharmadhatu is the element of form, and the element of sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma, but it is not the characteristic of being distinguished by eye consciousness, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind consciousness. And so on. Similarly, although it is the ultimate ground, but the conventional...

Because the characteristic of earth is without solidity, it is not conventional earth. Similarly, although water, fire, and wind are ultimate, they are not conventional water, fire, and wind because the characteristics of conventional water, fire, and wind—moisture, burning, and movement—are absent. Similarly, the eighteen elements, including the faculties and their objects, although they are the wisdom of the ultimate dharma-dhatu, they are not the conventional eighteen elements (including the faculties and their objects) because the characteristics of the conventional eighteen elements (including the faculties and their objects) are without substance. As it is said in the Glorious Tantra: 'The nature of earth is not solid, and the melting water body is not liquid, because it is not moist. The nature of fire is not fire, movement is the body of wind; if there is no movement, it is not wind. Although it is the nature of emptiness, the objects to be seen, white and green, and the great variety of colors, are not colors. Although it possesses all forms, it is not seen, because of the power of the defilements, afflictions, and demons of one's own heart.' And in its commentary, "Stainless Light," it says: 'Now, the characteristics of form are explained by "earth," and so on. Here, because it appears as emptiness, without substance, one sees the nature of earth, but it is not solid. The nature of melting water, like the water of a mirage, is not water, because it is not moist. Similarly, the nature of fire is not fire. Movement is the body of wind; because it is without substance, if there is no movement, then it is not wind. Because it is without substance, even though it is the nature of emptiness, it is still visible. Like a city of illusions, even though it possesses white and other colors, it is not color because it is without substance. Even though it possesses all forms, it is not seen by children at all times. Why is that? Because it is due to the power of the afflictions and demons. Because life flows through the left and right channels. This is certain.' Similarly, in the commentary on the Vajra Essence, it also says: 'The essence is the self-knowing nature, the essence of the Tathagata's wisdom, which holds, is held, and holds, is free from the transformations of the eighteen elements, therefore yogis have no external form, no seer, no eye, no eye consciousness. Similarly, there is no hearer, no sound, no ear consciousness.'

Similarly, there is no stainless smeller, no consciousness of the nose. Similarly, there is no tasteless taster, no consciousness of the tongue. Similarly, there is no tangible object, no toucher, no consciousness of the body. Similarly, there is no realm of phenomena, no grasper, no consciousness of the mind. Thus, the eye and so on do not exist either. Thus, the precious suchness of being separated from the eighteen elements should be meditated upon by the yogi, by eliminating ignorance. Thus it is said. Thus, the appearance of the alaya-consciousness, the nature of the six objects, the eighteen elements cease. The appearance of the alaya-wisdom, the nature of the six objects, the eighteen elements, which have always been inherent, become manifest, those transformations of the alaya-wisdom, the self-appearance of the Great Seal, the self-essence of the Great Vehicle, the experience of the Great Middle Way, the emanation of the Tathagatagarbha, the profound wave of Other-Emptiness, the play of the Clear Light Dharmakaya, the profound appearance of the Prajnaparamita, all the six objects of meditation called, should be introduced as the ultimate mind.
