Through (verbal) actions, one experiences the suffering of samsara in terms of speech, mind, and body. By abandoning negative verbal actions and engaging in virtuous actions, virtuous results ripen. Not taking appearances means: by not engaging in verbal actions towards sentient beings, temporary afflictions do not arise, and ultimately, one does not receive the result. The same applies to virtuous actions. There are four key points, which have already been explained in the section on the path. Thus, the key points of the four famous verbal instructions have been revealed. Now, regarding the "four key points of the nature of mind," the nature of mind also has four aspects: recognizing the essence of mind, classification and categorization, the path, and the result. Recognizing the essence of mind has three aspects: the alaya consciousness, the mind of awareness and enlightenment, or the realm of self-nature purity, or the essence of the Tathagatagarbha, the mind itself is the spontaneously born Dharmakaya, the appearance is the spontaneously born light of the Dharmakaya. Or, the ground is the empty mind, and everything is all the phenomena of samsara and nirvana. It is like the sky being the basis for both light and darkness. Awareness is the uninterrupted awareness of self and other. Enlightenment is that awareness is not stained by obscurations, and because it is wisdom, it is enlightenment. The so-called realm of self-nature purity means that the self-nature of mind is emptiness, like the realm of space, so it is emptiness. The realm is pure because it is not stained by impurities, so it is pure. As it is said: The water element is like gold and space, it becomes pure by purity. The essence of the Tathagatagarbha is: the realm is the same as above. The essence is that the realm of all sentient beings and the mind of all Tathagatas are inseparable, which is the essence. As it is said: The Sugata-garbha pervades all beings. The mind itself is the spontaneously born Dharmakaya, the appearance is the spontaneously born light of the Dharmakaya. It means that mind and appearance are not two, but the light of the Dharmakaya. Spontaneously born is like gold and the yellowness of gold, or a conch and the whiteness of a conch. Appearance and Dharmakaya are not two, but the light of the Dharmakaya. For example, the light of the sun. Third, the classification and categorization of mind has two aspects: categorization and classification. Categorization means: mind can be categorized into appearance and emptiness.

It is like that. Awareness and emptiness are inseparable, or skillful means and wisdom are inseparable, samsara and nirvana are inseparably combined. The classification is, according to the Paramita system, classified through conceptualization, namely, the apprehended and the apprehender, name and form, two kinds of dependent origination, and conceptualizations of nine, four, thirty, and thirty-six. If classified according to the Abhidharma system, there are eight and nine consciousnesses. The alaya consciousness, the afflicted mind, the mind consciousness, the five sense consciousnesses. The nine consciousnesses are the self-awareness of the alaya, hence there are nine kinds of awareness. The alaya consciousness has three aspects: the alaya of the nature of reality, the alaya of intention and habit, and the alaya of combination and intention. The alaya of the nature of reality is the mind itself, which is primordially pure and emptiness itself. The alaya of intention and habit is the mind's intention towards objects, and the arising of afflictions from habits, leading to taking a body in samsara. The alaya of combination and intention is, although there are many different views, such as considering consciousness to be neutral, the alaya is not found anywhere, and the afflicted mind resides in the alaya. The mind consciousness looks outward, existing like a fire covered by ashes. When the five sense consciousnesses manifest as objects, the mind consciousness engages in grasping. The three poisons of the afflicted mind, attachment, aversion, and ignorance, arise. Therefore, the alaya consciousness, the alaya of the nature of reality, because it has not experienced emptiness, appears as samsara. The seven combinations are, when the objects of the five senses manifest, if the mind consciousness and the afflicted mind do not intervene, then the self-aware consciousness of the alaya simply experiences the five sense objects without conceptualization, and that is the path of nirvana. That arises from meditation during the path. The mind of secret mantra, appearance and emptiness are inseparable, although there is no distinction in the emptiness of mind, appearance is divided into fifteen. Eye, ear, nose, tongue, and body are five. Eye consciousness, ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, and body consciousness are five. Contact arising from the gathering of the eye, contact arising from the gathering of the ear, contact arising from the gathering of the nose, contact arising from the gathering of the tongue,
