Emerged from the expanse of wisdom without being taught. Since there is no obstruction to clairvoyance, the differences in beings' faculties, abilities, and thoughts are understood as they are, without bias or sectarianism. Completely controlled by compassion, they willingly appear in limitless emanations appropriate to the eons in the minds of disciples with pure intelligence in the realm of existence. Countless beings who wander in the desolate plains of samsara and nirvana are accepted as if taking a breath, and such countless noble beings have appeared in the past. In the future, they will continue to appear as long as the Buddha's teachings remain. Now, in order to sing the doha songs of realization of Gyalwa Barompa, one of the four great Kagyu lineages, first, the definition and origin of the doha songs; second, the time and necessity of singing the doha songs; and finally, how to sing the doha songs, there are five aspects. First, the definition of the doha song is: it arises from the expression of the singer's speech, transforms the listener's perception into another realm, and encourages virtuous conduct. Second, the source of the doha song is: As it is said in the Heruka Assembly Tantra, "All actions of song and dance are the excellent deeds of the Buddhas." As it is said, the master of all Buddhas, the supreme secret teacher Vajradhara himself, manifested as the body of great bliss in union in the mandala of Prajna Vajra Mother, and proclaimed the true indestructible vajra sound, equal in all four times, to the assembly of those who have accomplished the vows of Heruka. The teacher, the Bhagavan, who tames beings in the three realms, also proclaimed the vast and profound wheel of Dharma with the voice of Brahma. In the Vinaya of the Holy Dharma, it is also said, "One should praise the Tathagata with verses in song." In the Sutra Pitaka, it is also said, "When speaking of the qualities of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and when explaining the Holy Dharma, one should recite with a melody that arises after five or six words." In particular, in the Yoga Mother Chakrasamvara Tantra, the king of all the profound Vajrayana tantras, it is said, "The yogi should speak the indestructible sound in a true manner."

And, in the Vajrayogini Tantra, it says, "At that time, one also sings the song of experience." And so on, endlessly. Furthermore, the Heruka self-arisen song that brings joy to heroes and dakinis; the doha of the accomplished ones that directly demonstrates the wisdom of realization; when devotion and compassion arise effortlessly, the lama's distant calling song that urges the guru's heart stream; the yogi's song of experience that speaks freely whatever arises when experience is integrated into the mindstream; the joyful song of realization when the skill of experience and realization is mastered; the song of overpowering appearances when an experience of fearlessness arises towards anything; the song of ease and openness after accomplishing virtuous deeds without regret; the song of the same taste of samsara and nirvana when all is realized as equality, and so on, endlessly. Third, the time for singing songs is: "Compared to offering to the Buddhas of the three times, offering to the lama has greater merit." As such, among the methods of offering, since this is particularly praised, it is sung during the festivals of the lineage lamas, as well as the four great festivals of the Buddhas, when blessing the environment and beings, engaging in gatherings of samaya, generating great power of experience, increasing the qualities of realization, and expanding the activities of accomplishing the great mandala and entering oneself. Fourth, the necessity of singing songs is: As it is said, "Remembering the lama averts death, praying liberates from obstacles." And so on. Temporarily, it pacifies diseases, evil spirits, obstacles, etc., and one lives long, all wishes are spontaneously accomplished without effort, and one obtains the eight great common siddhis. In particular, for those beings who possess excellent fortune, they attain liberation on this very seat without relying on the practice of the path, and even those of middling capacity conquer the demons of the path, extract the meaning from the husk of experience, and are liberated from the box of views. They effortlessly perfect the qualities of the higher and higher paths, thereby realizing the meaning of the nature of reality, and manifest the siddhi of Mahamudra in this very life. Even those who are extremely unfortunate and base temporarily cut off ordinary thoughts, follow the biographies of the precious Kagyu lineage with unwavering faith, and even by proclaiming it once in the ear of any sentient being...
