The ground itself abides in self-liberation from the very beginning. When the first thought arises as anger, if compassion arises later, then the previous anger goes nowhere. No one liberates it; it is liberated into self-liberation. Anger never remains permanent. The arising of anger also dawns from the power of self-arisen wisdom; it does not arise from here. Therefore, the nature of anger is unborn. In between, anger does not abide here. If it did, all the anger that has arisen from beginningless time until now would be gathered in one place, and even this realm of the three thousand great thousand worlds could not contain it. Anger is unborn and un abiding; therefore, even when it arises, it is never proven to be true. So, where has the anger that arose yesterday gone today? Where does the anger that will arise tomorrow come from and where is it today? Where is the anger that arose today now? When loving-kindness arises, where has the anger gone? All of that dawns from the power of self-arisen wisdom, so there is nothing to abandon. Even if you abandon it, there is nothing to abandon. Because its own nature abides in self-liberation, there is no other antidote that can destroy or liberate it. Anger naturally abides in naked seeing, self-liberation, and effortlessly liberates and abides in its own place. So now there is no basis for liberation to be repeated, and anger is recognized as self-arisen wisdom. Therefore, anger is taken as the essence of self-practice on the path. Whatever appears will dawn as practice, so there is no need to seek practice separately. The rope of calm abiding, mind-holding, is liberated in its own place. Just as anger is determined to be unborn and self-liberated, likewise, all the characteristics of conceptual thoughts, such as the eighty-four thousand afflictions, are known to be unborn and self-liberated. Therefore, there is no reason to abandon thoughts and meditate on non-thought. If one reed is hollow, all reeds are hollow. If one container is sealed, all containers are sealed. If you know one drop of water is wet, you know all water is wet. Likewise, if you know one instant of thought is unborn and self-liberated, you know all thoughts are unborn and self-liberated. Determining that the thought of an instant of awareness is unborn and self-liberated is called cutting through at once. Abandoning that instant of awareness and seeking something else that is not it

Because there is no need to introduce it, it is called introducing it on oneself. Because it shows its own nature as self-liberation, it is called abiding on the confidence of liberation. Abiding on the confidence of liberation, there are four great ways of liberation: whatever thought arises, its own nature is primordial liberation, self-liberation, naked liberation, and complete liberation. When a thought of desire arises intensely, because it abides in the nature of primordial liberation, there is no basis for needing to liberate again. It liberates itself, no one liberates it, it liberates itself, therefore there is no other antidote to liberate it. The thought itself looks nakedly at itself, because there is no self-nature, so it cannot be seen, because it is naked liberation, it cannot stay. Because the arising of thought is naturally arising, liberation is also complete liberation, therefore there is no need to strive to liberate it, one arising is primordial liberation, two arising is self-liberation, naked liberation, and complete liberation. Previously, the key to this way of liberation was not understood, because of clinging to thoughts, wandering in samsara, there was no time for liberation. Now understand the key points of the four ways of liberation, the lama introduced it, and certainty of liberation arose, what is the use of meditating with the stake of holding the mind now? Let everything that arises be self-liberated, do not meditate, let it be free, relax. Thus, the four ways of liberation do not arise from the profound instructions of the lama, nor are they obtained because you have good fortune, nor are they suddenly obtained because of good luck. Originally, the nature of all sentient beings abides in the four great ways of liberation, but because they do not understand this liberation, they are bound by clinging and wander in samsara. Even wandering in samsara, they have never gone beyond the four great ways of liberation, it is impossible to go beyond, and it will not go beyond, but although the nature can be liberated, it is easy to be confused by clinging, thereby experiencing suffering. For example, even when suffering in the hell of uninterrupted suffering, they abide in the four great ways of liberation, but because they do not recognize it, they suffer. If one recognizes that the nature of the thought of suffering is liberation, there will be no suffering, but it is obscured by the three obscurations of ignorance, so they do not understand the way of liberation. Thus, the basis for the four great ways of liberation is, in the Root Tantra of the Great Net of Illusions, it says: Self-knowing thoughts are all devoid.
