Homage to the Blessed One, the Worthy One, the Perfectly Self-Enlightened One. A Garland of Verses on the Qualities of the Buddha Just as from a heap of flowers, a beautiful garland is woven; So too, verses on the Buddha's qualities, I have composed more than a thousand. That Blessed One, the Worthy One, the Perfectly Self-Enlightened One, self-born; Endowed with knowledge and conduct, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (1) Charioteer of men to be tamed, knower of worlds, unsurpassed; Teacher of gods and humans, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (2) The Well-gone, the Well-spoken, the Master, giver of happiness, bestower of peace; Compassionate to all worlds, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (3) The Excellent, the Knower of excellence, the Giver of excellence, the Supreme Excellent, the Bringer of excellence; He taught the excellent Dhamma, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (4) Auspicious of great auspiciousness, auspicious, abode of auspiciousness; Lord, source of auspiciousness, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (5) Chief of auspiciousness, auspicious one, leader of great auspiciousness; He taught the auspicious Dhamma, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (6) Foremost in auspiciousness, knower of auspiciousness, giver of the meaning of auspiciousness; Revealer of the path to auspiciousness, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (7) Desirous of auspiciousness, endowed with auspiciousness, increaser of auspiciousness; Full of auspiciousness, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (8) His auspicious light shines forth, maker of the light of auspicious meaning; Adorned with the light of auspiciousness, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (9) Attained the meaning of auspiciousness, devoted to the meaning of auspiciousness; Always making auspiciousness, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (10) He sought the path to auspiciousness, attained supreme auspiciousness; Revealer of the way to auspiciousness, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (11) Bearer of the glory of auspiciousness, leader who makes auspiciousness; Giver of auspiciousness everywhere, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (12) Skilled in auspiciousness, and skilled in inauspiciousness; He attained supreme auspiciousness, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (13) Endowed with all auspiciousness, proclaimer of the auspicious sound; He taught the supreme auspiciousness, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (14) Seeker of the great auspicious meaning, he attained the very auspicious Dhamma; He made known the path of auspiciousness, to that Buddha, I pay homage. (15) Of the Householder He made known, the supreme great blessing; The householder's friend, the master, to that Buddha I bow. Adorned with great blessings, embellished with great blessings; Crowned with great blessings, to that Buddha I bow. A garland of great blessing-rays, shining with auspicious light; Illuminating the rays of blessing, to that Buddha I bow. A precious ocean of blessings, a vast sea of blessings; A great ocean of blessings, to that Buddha I bow. Destroyer of the night of inauspiciousness, shining like the sun of blessings; Spreading the light of blessings, to that Buddha I bow. Possessing much truth, an awakener, producer of the eye of Dhamma; Maker of blessings in the three worlds, to that Buddha I bow. The great speaker and proclaimer, the leader to the goal, the lord; The giver of the deathless, the wise one, to that Buddha I bow. By day the sun shines, by night the moon glows; Day and night the protector shines, to that Buddha I bow. An armed warrior shines, a meditator, a brahmin shines; Constantly the protector shines, to that Buddha I bow. Destroyer of suffering and sorrow, ender of grief and lamentation; Transcender of birth, death, and old age, to that Buddha I bow. As he speaks, so he acts; thus speaking, the Tathāgata; As he acts, so he speaks, to that Buddha I bow. Broken is lust, broken is hatred, broken is delusion, he is the Blessed One; Broken is conceit, broken is deceit, to that Buddha I bow. Broken is desire, broken is anger, broken is wrath, broken is hypocrisy; Broken is defilement, broken is fuel, to that Buddha I bow. Broken is birth, broken is death, broken is the world, broken is becoming; Broken is transmigration, broken is the flood, to that Buddha I bow. Broken is enjoyment, broken is sorrow, broken is sickness, broken is dust; Broken is the stake, broken is the arrow, to that Buddha I bow. Broken is hope, broken is envy, broken is agitation, broken is entanglement; Broken is desire, broken is bondage, to that Buddha I bow. Free from lust, free from hatred, free from delusion, free from defilements; Free from desire, free from Free from anger, I bow down to that Buddha.32. Free from evil, free from merit, Free from burdens, free from defilements; Free from corruption, free from fuel, I bow down to that Buddha.33. Expelled lust, expelled hatred, Expelled delusion, expelled defilement; Expelled stains, expelled trouble, I bow down to that Buddha.34. Good teacher, teacher of the three worlds, Teacher of the path for all beings; The great leader among leaders, I bow down to that Buddha.36. Great teacher, teacher of humans, Teacher of devas, supreme teacher! Foremost teacher, excellent teacher, I bow down to that Buddha.37. Universal teacher, world teacher, Teacher of the Dhamma, supreme teacher; There is no such teacher, I bow down to that Buddha.38. Great teacher, great well-being, Great friend, great companion; Who is a great noble friend, I bow down to that Buddha.39. Greatly wise, greatly discerning, Greatly learned, greatly knowing; Greatly intelligent, of good wisdom, I bow down to that Buddha.40. Greatly pure, greatly auspicious, Greatly compassionate, greatly resolute; Greatly divine, greatly capable, I bow down to that Buddha.41. Great hero, great steadfast one, Great brave one, greatly strong; Who crushed the great army of Māra, I bow down to that Buddha.42. Greatly foremost, greatly excellent, Greatly worthy, great leader; Greatly skilled, greatly expert, I bow down to that Buddha.43. Greatly manifest, greatly known, Greatly renowned, greatly glorious; Greatly powerful, greatly celebrated, I bow down to that Buddha.44. Greatly pleased, greatly joyful, Greatly swift, greatly victorious; Greatly contented, distinguished, I bow down to that Buddha.45. Great protector, great master, Great lord, great pervader; Great lord, lord of enlightenment, I bow down to that Buddha.46. Of great complexion, greatly charming, Dear to the mind, pleasing to the mind; Greatly splendid, delightful, I bow down to that Buddha.47. Great meditator, great knower, Greatly intelligent, greatly wise; Great perceiver, intelligent, I bow down to that Buddha.48. Great patience and forbearance, Greatly free from doubt, one who has gone to the Dhamma; Greatly sa He is restrained, he is composed, To that Buddha, I bow down. 49. Greatly praised, greatly honored, Greatly revered, greatly worshipped; Greatly saluted, even more, To that Buddha, I bow down. 50. Of great meaning, of great purpose, Of great benefit, of great value; Great, having attained greatness, To that Buddha, I bow down. 51. Of great gain, of great action, Of great giving, of great wealth; Of great knowledge, greatly revered, To that Buddha, I bow down. 52. Of great wisdom, greatly awakened, Foremost in great enlightenment; Having crossed the great ocean of existence, To that Buddha, I bow down. 53. A great elephant, of great fortune, Of great arms, of great power; A great warrior, greatly gone, To that Buddha, I bow down. 54. Greatly tamed, greatly peaceful, Of great company, of great virtues; Giver of the great path of peace, To that Buddha, I bow down. 55. Of great virtue, of great mind, Greatly awakened, the great sage; Having crossed the great ocean of delusion, To that Buddha, I bow down. 56. A great ascetic, seeker of Dhamma, Of great fame, the leader; Of great splendor, full of energy, To that Buddha, I bow down. 57. Of great light, of great radiance, Dispeller of the darkness of delusion; He lit the lamp of knowledge, To that Buddha, I bow down. 58. Giver of great tranquility, King of sages, lord of sages; Giver of peace, giver of happiness, To that Buddha, I bow down. 59. Beyond great hindrances, Having uprooted great delusion; Having crossed the great flood, the liberator, To that Buddha, I bow down. 60. Having abandoned the great basis of existence, Destroyer of greed and hatred; He crushed the great enemy, To that Buddha, I bow down. 61. Having attained the power of great supernormal knowledge, Destroyer of great conceit; He taught the great True Dhamma, To that Buddha, I bow down. 62. Always pure day and night, The great leader of the world; Known throughout the entire universe, To that Buddha, I bow down. 63. Having cut off great ignorance, Having cast off great attachment; He untangled the great tangle, To that Buddha, I bow down. 64. Remover of the great dart, Healer of the great arrow; He made an end to the great defilements, To that Buddha, I bow down. 65. Of great effort, a hero, Unconquered in every way; Absolutely fearless, a hero, To that Buddha, I bow down. Overcome great craving, Dispelled great sorrow; Surpassed great suffering, I bow to that Buddha. Overcome great conceit, Crushed Mara's army; Wore away kamma-defilements, I bow to that Buddha. Crossed the great ocean of becoming, Gone to the far shore of the ocean of evil; Gone beyond great wandering, I bow to that Buddha. Gone beyond great fetters, Destroyer of the great cycle; Crossed the great flood of wandering, I bow to that Buddha. Dispassionate towards great lust, Crushed great hatred; Dried up the great stream, I bow to that Buddha. Who dwells in great loving-kindness, Of great merit, worthy of great offerings; An ocean of great compassion, I bow to that Buddha.
