At the moment of rebirth-linking, roots that are without initial application and without sustained application are conditioned by root condition for the associated aggregates and for kamma-originated material forms. (1) Object condition 69. A dhamma that is with initial application and with sustained application is conditioned by object condition for a dhamma that is with initial application and with sustained application – Having given a gift, having undertaken precepts, having performed the Uposatha observance, one reviews that; one reviews previously well-practiced deeds; having emerged from jhānas with initial and sustained application, having emerged from paths, having emerged from fruits, one reviews the fruit. Noble Ones review the abandoned defilements, review the suppressed defilements, know the defilements accumulated in the past. They discern the aggregates with initial and sustained application as impermanent, as suffering, as not-self; they enjoy them, they delight in them; concerning that, lust arises... dejection arises. Concerning the aggregates with initial and sustained application, aggregates with initial and sustained application arise. (1) A dhamma that is with initial application and with sustained application is conditioned by object condition for a dhamma that is without initial application and with sustained application – Having given a gift, precept... Having undertaken the Uposatha observance, having performed the Uposatha action, he reviews it; concerning that, thought arises. He reviews good deeds done previously; having emerged from jhānas with initial and sustained application, having emerged from paths, having emerged from fruits, he reviews the fruit; concerning that, thought arises. Concerning the aggregates with initial and sustained application, thought arises. (2) The phenomenon with initial and sustained application is a condition for the phenomenon without initial and sustained application by way of object condition – by mind-penetrating knowledge, one knows the mind of one endowed with a mind with initial and sustained application; the aggregates with initial and sustained application are a condition for mind-penetrating knowledge, for the knowledge of recollection of past lives, for the knowledge of knowing beings' destinations according to their kamma, for the knowledge of future events, by way of object condition. Concerning the aggregates with initial and sustained application, aggregates without initial and sustained application arise. (3) The phenomenon with initial and sustained application is a condition for the phenomenon with initial and sustained application and for the phenomenon that is merely without initial and sustained application by way of object condition – having given a gift, having undertaken morality, having performed the Uposatha action, he reviews it; concerning that, aggregates with initial and sustained application and thought arise. He reviews good deeds done previously; having emerged from jhānas with initial and sustained application, having emerged from paths, having emerged from fruits, he reviews the fruit; concerning that, aggregates with initial and sustained application and thought arise. Noble Ones review defilements abandoned, they review defilements suppressed, they know defilements accumulated previously. They discern the aggregates with initial and sustained application as impermanent, as suffering, as not-self, they enjoy them, they delight in them; concerning that, aggregates with initial and sustained application and thought arise. With initial and sustained application Concerning these aggregates, the aggregates with initial and sustained thought and initial thought arise. (4) 70. The state of without initial thought, only with sustained thought is a condition by way of object for the state of without initial thought, only with sustained thought. Having emerged from jhānas of without initial thought, only with sustained thought, having emerged from paths, having emerged from fruits, one reflects on the fruit. Concerning that, initial thought arises. One discerns, enjoys, delights in the aggregates and initial thought of without initial thought, only with sustained thought as impermanent, as suffering, as not-self. Concerning that, initial thought arises. Concerning the aggregates and initial thought of without initial thought, only with sustained thought, initial thought arises. (1) The state of without initial thought, only with sustained thought is a condition by way of object for the state with initial and sustained thought. Having emerged from jhānas of without initial thought, only with sustained thought, having emerged from paths, having emerged from fruits, they reflect on the fruit. Concerning that, the aggregates with initial and sustained thought arise. One discerns, enjoys, delights in the aggregates and initial thought of without initial thought, only with sustained thought as impermanent, as suffering, as not-self. Concerning that, lust arises… and so on… displeasure arises. Concerning the aggregates and initial thought of without initial thought, only with sustained thought, the aggregates with initial and sustained thought arise. (2) The state of without initial thought, only with sustained thought is a condition by way of object for the state without initial and without sustained thought. By means of the knowledge of penetrating the minds of others, one knows the mind of one endowed with a mind of without initial thought, only with sustained thought. The aggregates of without initial thought, only with sustained thought are a condition by way of object for the knowledge of penetrating the minds of others, for the knowledge of recollecting past lives, for the knowledge of knowing the destiny of beings according to their karma, for the knowledge of future events. Concerning the aggregates and initial thought of without initial thought, only with sustained thought, the aggregates without initial and without sustained thought arise. (3) The state of without initial thought, only with sustained thought is a condition by way of object for the state with initial and sustained thought and for the state of without initial thought, only with sustained thought. Having emerged from jhānas of without initial thought, only with sustained thought, having emerged from paths, having emerged from fruits, one reflects on the fruit. Concerning that, with initial thought... Aggregates with initial and sustained application and initial application arise. In aggregates that are without initial and sustained application and initial application, one sees impermanence, suffering, non-self, one delights, one rejoices; because of that, aggregates with initial and sustained application and initial application arise. Because of aggregates that are without initial and sustained application and initial application, aggregates with initial and sustained application and initial application arise. (4) 71. The phenomenon without initial and sustained application is a condition by way of object-condition for the phenomenon without initial and sustained application – Nibbāna is a condition by way of object-condition for the path, the fruit, and the sustained application that are without initial and sustained application. With the divine eye, one sees forms; with the divine ear-element, one hears sounds; with the knowledge of others' minds, one knows the mind of one endowed with a mind without initial and sustained application. The base of infinite space is a condition by way of object-condition for the base of infinite consciousness... ...the base of nothingness is a condition by way of object-condition for the base of neither perception nor non-perception. The form-base is a condition by way of object-condition for eye-consciousness... ...the tangible-base is a condition by way of object-condition for body-consciousness. Aggregates without initial and sustained application are a condition by way of object-condition for the knowledge of psychic powers, for the knowledge of others' minds, for the knowledge of recollection of past lives, for the knowledge of passing away and reappearing according to kamma, for the knowledge of future events. Because of aggregates without initial and sustained application and sustained application, aggregates without initial and sustained application arise. (1) The phenomenon without initial and sustained application is a condition by way of object-condition for the phenomenon with initial and sustained application – Noble ones, having emerged from jhānas without initial and sustained application, having emerged from the path, having emerged from the fruit, review the fruit; because of that, aggregates with initial and sustained application arise. Noble ones review Nibbāna; Nibbāna is a condition by way of object-condition for the lineage-change, for the purification, for the path with initial and sustained application, for the fruit, for the advertence. One sees the eye as impermanent, suffering, non-self; one delights, one rejoices; because of that, lust arises... ...displeasure arises.
