For all who are passing away, and for those not men, being reborn without joy, their faculty of joy does not arise, and their faculty of masculinity does not arise. (A) For whom the faculty of masculinity does not arise, for them the faculty of equanimity does not arise? For those not men, being reborn with equanimity, their faculty of masculinity does not arise, but their faculty of equanimity does arise. For all who are passing away, and for those not men, being reborn without equanimity, their faculty of masculinity does not arise, and their faculty of equanimity does not arise. (B) Or for whom the faculty of equanimity does not arise, for them the faculty of masculinity does not arise? Without equanimity, for men being reborn, their faculty of equanimity does not arise, but their faculty of masculinity does arise. For all who are passing away, and for those not men, being reborn without equanimity, their faculty of equanimity does not arise, and their faculty of masculinity does not arise. (A) For whom the faculty of masculinity does not arise, for them the faculty of faith does not arise? For those not men, being reborn with roots, their faculty of masculinity does not arise, but their faculty of faith does arise. For all who are passing away, and for those not men, being reborn without roots, their faculty of masculinity does not arise, and their faculty of faith does not arise. Not for men endowed with knowledge, arising, for them the faculty of masculinity does not arise, but for them the faculty of wisdom does arise. For all who are passing away, for non-men devoid of knowledge, arising, for them the faculty of masculinity does not arise, and the faculty of wisdom does not arise.
