For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense-sphere realm, for those in their last existence in the form-sphere realm, in the formless realm, and those who, having arisen in the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them passing away, the eye-base will not arise and the nose-base will not cease. (Kha) Or for whom the nose-base will not cease, will the eye-base not arise for him? Those who, having arisen in the form-sphere realm, will attain final Nibbāna for them, when passing away, their nose-sense base will not cease, and for them, the eye-sense base will not arise. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense-sphere, for those who are last-existents in the form-sphere and formless-sphere, and for those who, having arisen in the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when passing away, their nose-sense base will not cease, and their eye-sense base will not arise. (Q) For whom the eye-sense base will not arise, for them will the form-sense base not cease? For those who are last-existents arising in the five-constituent existence, and for those who, having arisen in the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when arising, their eye-sense base will not arise, but for them, the form-sense base will not cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, for those who are last-existents in the formless realm, and for those who, having arisen in the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when passing away, their eye-sense base will not arise, and their form-sense base will not cease. (Q) Or again, for whom the form-sense base will not cease, for them will the eye-sense base not arise? Yes. For whom the eye-sense base will not arise, for them will the mind-sense base... (and so on) ...the phenomena-sense base not cease? For those who are last-existents arising, and for those who, having arisen in the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, the eye-sense base will not arise, but for them, the phenomena-sense base will not cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna, for them, the eye-sense base will not arise, and the phenomena-sense base will not cease. Or again, for whom the phenomena-sense base... (and so on)? Yes. (Rooted in the eye-sense base) 221. (Q) For whom the nose-sense base will not arise, for them will the form-sense base not cease? For those who are last-existents arising in the five-constituent existence, and for those who, having arisen in the form-sphere or formless-sphere, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when arising, their nose-sense base will not arise, but for them, the form-sense base will not cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, for those who are last-existents in the formless realm, and for those who, having arisen in the formless realm... ...having attained final Nibbana. For them, when they are passing away, the nose-faculty will not arise, and the visible-form-object will not cease. (Kha) Or again, for whom the visible-form-object...? Yes. For whom the nose-faculty will not arise, for them the mind-faculty... the mind-object will not cease? For those who are last-existents, when they are arising, and for those who, having arisen in the form-sphere or formless-sphere, will attain final Nibbana, for them the nose-faculty will not arise, but for them the mind-object will not cease. For those who are attaining final Nibbana, for them the nose-faculty will not arise, and the mind-object will not cease. Or again, for whom the mind-object...? Yes. 222. For whom the visible-form-object will not arise, for them the mind-faculty... the mind-object will not cease? For those who are last-existents, when they are arising, and for those who, having arisen in the formless-sphere, will attain final Nibbana, for them the visible-form-object will not arise, but for them the mind-object will not cease. For those who are attaining final Nibbana, for them the visible-form-object will not arise, and the mind-object will not cease. Or again, for whom the mind-object...? Yes. 223. (Ka) For whom the mind-faculty will not arise, for them the mind-object will not cease? For those who are last-existents, when they are arising, for them the mind-faculty will not arise, but for them the mind-object will not cease. For those who are attaining final Nibbana, for them the mind-faculty will not arise, and the mind-object will not cease. (Kha) Or again, for whom the mind-object will not cease, for them the mind-faculty will not arise? Yes. (Nga) The inverse case. 224. Where the eye-faculty will not arise... (Ca) The inverse case for persons and places. 225. (Ka) For whom, where the eye-faculty will not arise, for them, there the ear-faculty will not cease? For those who are last-existents, when they are arising in the five-constituent existence, for them, there the eye-faculty will not arise, but for them, there the ear-faculty... will not cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, for non-percipient beings, for formless beings, for them there, the eye-base will not arise, and the ear-base will not cease. (Kha) Or for whom, or where... (as before)...? (Ka) Yes. (Ka) For whom, or where, the eye-base will not arise, for them there, the nose-base will not cease, is that so? For those with their last existence, being reborn in the sense-sphere, for them there, the eye-base will not arise, but for them there, the nose-base will not cease, is not so. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense-sphere, for those with their last existence in the form-sphere, for non-percipient beings, for formless beings, for them there, the eye-base will not arise, and the nose-base will not cease. (Kha) Or for whom, or where, the nose-base will not cease, for them there, the eye-base will not arise, is that so? For those in the form-sphere, for them there, the nose-base will not cease, but for them there, the eye-base will not arise, is not so.
