(Ka) For whom the eye-base will not cease, for him, will the ear-base not cease? Yes. (Kha) Or for whom the ear-base will not cease, for him, will the eye-base not cease? Yes. (Ka) For whom the eye-base will not cease, for him, will the nose-base not cease? Yes. (Kha) Or for whom the nose-base will not cease, for him, will the eye-base not cease? For those in their last existence who are arising in the form realm, and those who, having arisen in the form realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when passing away, their nose-base will not cease, but for them, the eye-base will cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existences, for those in their last existence in the formless realms, and those who, having arisen in the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when passing away, their nose-base will not cease, and their eye-base will not cease. (Ka) For whom the eye-base will not cease, for him, will the form-base not cease? Yes. (Kha) Or for whom the form-base will not cease, for him, will the eye-base not cease? Will the eye-base not cease? Yes. For whom the eye-base will not cease, will the mind-base…pe… the dharma-base not cease for them? For those in their last existence, who are reborn in the formless realm, and for those who, having been reborn in the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when they pass away, the eye-base will not cease, but for them the dharma-base will not not cease. For those who attain final Nibbāna, for them the eye-base will not cease and the dharma-base will not cease. Or for whom the dharma-base will not cease, will the eye-base not cease for them? Yes. (Rooted in the eye-base) 143. (a) For whom the nose-base will not cease, will the form-base not cease for them? For those in their last existence, who are reborn in the form realm, and for those who, having been reborn in the form realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when they pass away, the nose-base will not cease, but for them the form-base will not not cease. For those who attain final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, and for those in their last existence in the formless realm, who, having been reborn in the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when they pass away, the nose-base will not cease and the form-base will not cease. (b) Or for whom the form-base will not cease, will the nose-base not cease for them? Yes. For whom the nose-base will not cease, will the mind-base…pe… the dharma-base not cease for them? For those in their last existence, who are reborn in the form realm or the formless realm, and for those who, having been reborn in the form realm or the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when they pass away, the nose-base will not cease, but for them the dharma-base will not not cease. For those who attain final Nibbāna, for them the nose-base will not cease and the dharma-base will not cease. Or for whom the dharma-base will not cease, will the nose-base not cease for them? Yes. 144. For whom the form-base will the mind-base not cease for him…pe… will the phenomena-base not cease? For those in their last existence, arising in the formless realms, and for those who, having arisen in the formless realms, will attain Nibbāna, when they are passing away, for them the form-base will not cease, but for them the phenomena-base will not not cease. For those attaining Nibbāna, for them the form-base will not cease and the phenomena-base will not cease. Or again, for whom the phenomena-base will not cease, will the form-base not cease for him? Yes. 145. (a) For whom the mind-base will not cease, will the phenomena-base not cease for him? Yes. (b) Or again, for whom the phenomena-base will not cease, will the mind-base not cease for him? Yes. (c) The opposite case. 146. Where the eye-base will not cease…pe…. (d) The opposite persons and cases. 147. (a) For whom, where the eye-base will not cease, will the ear-base not cease for him there? Yes. (b) Or again, for whom, where the ear-base will not cease, will the eye-base not cease for him there? Yes. (a) For whom, where the eye-base will not cease, will the nose-base not cease for him there? Yes. (b) Or again, for whom, where the nose-base will not cease, will the eye-base not cease for him there? For those in the form realms, for them there the nose-base will not cease, but for them there the eye-base will not not cease. For those attaining Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, for non-percipient beings, for those in the formless realms, for them there the nose-base will not cease and the eye-base will not cease. (a) For whom, where the eye-base will not cease, will the form-base not cease for him there? For non-percipient beings, for them there the eye-base will not cease, but for them there the form-base will not not cease. P For those attaining final Nibbāna in other existences, and for the formless ones, for them there, the eye-base will not cease, and the form-base will not cease. (Kha) Or for whom, where the form-base will not cease, for him there, will the eye-base not cease? Yes. (Ka) For whom, where the eye-base will not cease, for him there, will the mind-base not cease? For the formless ones, for them there, the eye-base will not cease, but for them there, the mind-base will cease. For the non-percipient beings who attain final Nibbāna, for them there, the eye-base will not cease, and the mind-base will not cease. (Kha) Or for whom, where the mind-base will not cease, for him there, will the eye-base not cease? Yes. (Ka) For whom, where the eye-base will not cease, for him there, will the phenomena-base not cease? For the non-percipient beings, for the formless ones, for them there, the eye-base will not cease, but for them there, the phenomena-base will cease. For those who attain final Nibbāna, for them there, the eye-base will not cease, and the phenomena-base will not cease. (Kha) Or for whom, where the phenomena-base will not cease, for him there, will the eye-base not cease? Yes. (The Root of the Eye-Base) 148. (Ka) For whom, where the nose-base will not cease, for him there, will the form-base not cease? For the fine-material sphere beings, for them there, the nose-base will not cease, but for them there, the form-base will cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, and for the formless ones, for them there, the nose-base will not cease, and the form-base will not cease. (Kha) Or for whom, where the form-base will not cease, for him there, will the nose-base not cease? Yes. (Ka) For whom, where the nose-base will not cease, for him there, the mind-base... will not cease? For those in the form realms, for those in the formless realms, for them there the nose-base will not cease, but for them there the mind-base will cease. For those who have attained final Nibbāna, for non-percipient beings, for them there both the nose-base will not cease and the mind-base will not cease. (B) Or again, for whom, where the mind-base will not cease, for him there will the nose-base not cease? Yes. (A) For whom, where the nose-base will not cease, for him there will the phenomenon-base not cease? For those in the form realms, for those in the formless realms, for them there the nose-base will not cease, but for them there the phenomenon-base will cease. For those who have attained final Nibbāna, for them there both the nose-base will not cease and the phenomenon-base will not cease. (B) Or again, for whom, where the phenomenon-base will not cease, for him there will the nose-base not cease? Yes. (Rooted in the Nose-base) 149. (A) For whom, where the form-base will not cease, for him there will the mind-base not cease? For the formless ones, for them there the form-base will not cease, but for them there the mind-base will cease. For those who have attained final Nibbāna, for them there both the form-base will not cease and the mind-base will not cease. (B) Or again, for whom, where the mind-base will not cease, for him there will the form-base not cease? For non-percipient beings, for them there the mind-base will not cease,
