Whose nose-base does not arise, for him will the mind-base... (and so on)... the phenomenon-base not arise? For all who are passing away... For those being born without a nose, for them, the nose base does not arise, but for them, the dharma base will arise. For those attaining final Nibbana in the sense-sphere, for those who are last-existents in the form-sphere, in the formless-sphere, for them, the nose base does not arise, and the dharma base will not arise. Or again, for whom the dharma base will not arise, for them, does the nose base not arise? For those who are last-existents being born in the sense-sphere, for them, the dharma base will not arise, but for them, the nose base arises. For those attaining final Nibbana in the sense-sphere, for those who are last-existents in the form-sphere, in the formless-sphere, for them, the dharma base will not arise, and the nose base does not arise. 97. For whom the form base does not arise, for them, the mind base... (and so on)... will the dharma base not arise? For all those passing away, for those being born in the formless realms, for them, the form base does not arise, but for them, the dharma base will arise. For those attaining final Nibbana in the five-constituent existence, for those who are last-existents in the formless realms, for them, the form base does not arise, and the dharma base will not arise. Or again, for whom the dharma base will not arise, for them, does the form base not arise? For those who are last-existents being born in the five-constituent existence, for them, the dharma base will not arise, but for them, the form base arises. For those attaining final Nibbana in the five-constituent existence, for those who are last-existents in the formless realms, for them, the dharma base will not arise, and the form base does not arise. 98. (A) For whom the mind base does not arise, for them, will the dharma base not arise? For all those passing away, for those being born without consciousness, for them, the mind base does not arise, but for them, the dharma base will arise. For those attaining final Nibbana, for them, the mind base does not arise, and the dharma base will not arise. (B) Or again, for whom the dharma base will not arise, for them, does the mind base not arise? For those attaining final Nibbana in the five-constituent existence, for non-percipient beings, for formless beings, for them, there, the eye-base does not arise, and the ear-base will not arise. (Kha) Or again, for whom, where the ear-base will not arise, for them, there, does the eye-base not arise? For those in their last existence, for those being reborn in the five-constituent existence, for them, there, the ear-base will not arise, but for them, there, the eye-base *does* arise. For those attaining final Nibbana in the five-constituent existence, for non-percipient beings, for formless beings, for them, there, the ear-base will not arise, and the eye-base does not arise. (Ka) For whom, where the eye-base does not arise, for them, there, will the nose-base not arise? For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, for those in their last existence in the formless sphere, for non-percipient beings, for them there the mind-base will not arise, and the eye-base does not arise. Further. (A) For whom, where the eye-base does not arise, will the mind-object-base not arise there for him? For all who are passing away, for those born without eyes, for them, there the eye-base does not arise, but for them, there the mind-object-base will arise. For those attaining Nibbāna in the five-constituent planes, for those in the formless realms who are last-existents, for them, there the eye-base does not arise, and the mind-object-base will not arise. (B) Or for whom, where the mind-object-base will not arise, does the eye-base not arise there for him? For last-existents being reborn in the five-constituent planes, for them, there the mind-object-base will not arise, but for them, there the eye-base arises. For those attaining Nibbāna in the five-constituent planes, for those in the formless realms who are last-existents, for them, there the mind-object-base will not arise, and the eye-base does not arise.
