"Here, bhikkhus, in a certain dwelling, on the day of Pavāraṇā, as people are giving alms, the greater part of the night has passed. If there, bhikkhus, it occurs to the bhikkhus: 'As people were giving alms, the greater part of the night has passed. If the Saṅgha performs the three-time Pavāraṇā, the Saṅgha will remain un-Pavāraṇā'd, and then this night will break,' then by a competent and capable bhikkhu the Saṅgha should be informed thus: 'May the Saṅgha, venerable sirs, hear me. As people were giving alms, the greater part of the night has passed. If the Saṅgha performs the three-time Pavāraṇā, the Saṅgha will remain un-Pavāraṇā'd, and then this night will break. If it is suitable for the Saṅgha, may the Saṅgha perform the two-time, the one-time, or the equal-seniority Pavāraṇā.' Here, bhikkhus, in a certain dwelling, on the day of Pavāraṇā, as bhikkhus were reciting the Dhamma...p ...by those who recite the suttas, reciting the suttas... by those who uphold the Vinaya, deciding the Vinaya... by those who teach the Dhamma, discussing the Dhamma... by monks quarreling, for the most part, the night has been spent. If there, it occurs to the monks thus: "By monks quarreling, for the most part, the night has been spent. If the Sangha performs the three-time Pavāraṇā, the Sangha will remain un-Pavāraṇāed, and this night will break."
