As in the practice of "Essence of Accomplishment," a brief record in writing. This is a chapter explaining the practice of the four-armed Wisdom Protector according to the Nagarjuna tradition. May there be auspiciousness! I prostrate to the unerring guide, the Lama, the Yidam deity, and the Dharma protectors, and request them to grant accomplishments, and I will write down the practical application of the practice. Oṃ svasti! I prostrate to the unerring guide, the Lama, the Yidam deity, and the Dharma protectors, and request them to grant accomplishments, and I will write down the practical application of the practice. If you wish to practice the four-armed Great Black One, since the visualization of the Yidam goes first, if it is during the retreat, then offer the preliminary torma first. With the intention of protecting the teachings, generate the thought to practice the Great Black One. Invite the Lama, Yidam, Dharma protectors, and others as a field of merit in the form of a gathering, and perform the seven-branch offering. For the regular torma offering, these are not necessary. In any case, arrange the offerings and torma well. Purify the offerings with amṛta (ཨ་མྲྀ་ཏ་,अमृत,amṛta,nectar), and cleanse them with svabhāva (སྭ་བྷཱ་ཝ་,स्वभाव,svabhāva,nature). From emptiness, from the syllable A, within the vast and expansive skull-cup of wisdom, from the melting of the syllable Hūṃ, arise offering water, foot-washing water, mouth-washing water, bathing torma, flowers, incense, lamps, perfume, food, music, and other inconceivable offering implements, filling the entire expanse of space. Oṃ Vajra Argham Svāhā. Pādyam. Añcamanam. Prokṣaṇam. Puṣpe Āḥ Hūṃ. Dhūpe. Āloke. Gandhe. Naivedye. Śapta. Bless with Oṃ Vajra Gaṇḍe Raṇita, etc. If there is a representation, then that itself needs to be generated. If there is none, then generate it in the sky above the torma. That is: Oṃ Svabhāva Śuddha Sarva Dharmā Svabhāva Śuddho 'Ham. From emptiness, within the protective wheel of the vajra ground, fence, tent, and blazing fire, in front of oneself, are the eight great charnel grounds where accomplishments arise. With the guardians of the directions and the guardians of the fields, and with trees, fire, and water. On the central ground, which is filled with corpses, zombies, rakshasas, bhūtas, heroes, and assemblies of ḍākinīs, is a four-sided palace with four doors and four stairways, blazing with jewels. In the center is a round palace blazing with skull-cups. The top is covered with skeletons. Inside and out, everything is filled with jewels and gods.

In the center, adorned with all the ornaments related to the four activities, such as clothes of ashes and flowers, as well as raw skin, entrails, bone rosaries, hair fly-whisks, etc., on a triangular, dark blue, blazing mandala, from the syllable (Tibetan: པཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: प, Sanskrit Romanization: paṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: paṃ) arises a lotus, and from the syllable (Tibetan: རཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: र, Sanskrit Romanization: raṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: raṃ) arises a sun disc as a seat. This is the extensive method of generating the palace for all activities. For each activity, there are separate palaces corresponding to the activity. If condensed, then for daily recitation, only the basis of a charnel ground is sufficient. From one's own heart, a dark blue, blazing (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हु, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: hūṃ) radiates and settles on the seat. From the radiating and gathering of the light of that (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हु, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: hūṃ), a vajra kīla marked with (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हु, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: hūṃ) arises. From that, light radiates, completely destroying all fierce enemies and obstructing forces and transferring their places. Gathering back, it completely transforms into the glorious Lord of Wisdom, Mahākāla, the great hero, with a body color of dark blue, like the clouds at the end of an eon. His three red and round eyes gaze with anger. His mouth is open, and his teeth are bared. His tongue is curled, and he proclaims laughter of haha and (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुँ हुँ, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: hūṃ hūṃ) and (Tibetan: ཕཊ་ཕཊ, Sanskrit Devanagari: फट् फट्, Sanskrit Romanization: phaṭ phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: phaṭ phaṭ). His mustache, eyebrows, and hair are yellow, blazing like fire. Of his four hands, the first right hand holds a vajra chopper, and the first left hand holds a skull cup filled with blood, held up and down at his heart. Alternatively, the first right hand may hold a beța fruit, resembling a heart. The lower right hand holds a blazing sword in a striking posture, and the lower left hand holds a khaṭvāṅga marked with a triśūla, complete with a silk pennant, in a raised manner. He is adorned with a crown of five dry human heads and a necklace of fifty-one wet, dripping human heads. He is adorned with jewel tips, four types of snakes, and all bone ornaments. He wears a tiger skin loincloth. In the midst of a blazing mass of wisdom fire, he sits in a heroic posture on a seat of crossed ridges. Here, some new texts only have a triśūla, while in most old texts, the hand implement is a vajra khaṭvāṅga instead of a triśūla, and it is also acceptable not to mention the bone ornaments. From his heart, three (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हु, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: hūṃ) radiate, and those who sit on the right, left, and in front of the main deity are the Lords of Activity, with dark blue bodies, having wrathful, fierce, and terrifying forms.
