Thus have I heard: At one time, the Bhagavan, the great Vajradhara himself, was dwelling in the great lake, the city of dragons and demons, together with an immeasurable host of retinues, both dependent and transcendent. Thus he requested. This is the second chapter, the instigation. Then, the Bhagavan Vajradhara spoke: I, Vajrapani myself, From a body of great green-blue hue, For the sake of subduing all malevolence, For the sake of gathering all great powers, Emanate as the body of the bird Garuda. The beak is a beak of sky-iron vajra, The wings are filled with the power of vajra, Covering and enveloping all realms of the world, The claws seize the earth-owners, dragons and demons. From the mouth emanates a fierce mantra ray, Subduing and gathering all. Desiring to accomplish this purpose, In a place where a water spring is dry or a plain is dry, Or in a place that is agreeable to the mind, On a triple triangular mandala, Dig a peaceful pit in the east, Dig an increasing pit in the north, The west is a pit of subjugation, And the south is likewise a fierce one. Accumulate substances for pacifying, increasing, subjugating, and wrathful actions. Thus he spoke. This is the third chapter, the preliminary practice. Then, he also truly spoke: First, in order to accumulate merit, Purify the space in front completely. Then, emptiness.
