Some delight in taking lives with sinful mouths and so on. Some delight in protecting the teachings by directly seeing the face of the Tathagata. Some delight in much flesh and blood. Some delight in being companions with those who have vows and in pure Dharma, and all of these will become companions with vows. This is the time for the introduction. Then they requested the supreme hero of bliss, saying: O Maho, supreme hero of bliss! How should we, the assembled retinue of mothers, act to subdue? What are your instructions for us, the mothers of the four lineages assembled? Great hero, please bestow your words! Thus they requested. All the assembled mothers of the four lineages spoke in unison and sat down. Then again, the glorious deity of bliss, the supreme one, spoke these words to the assembled mothers of the four lineages: Listen, assembled retinue of mothers!
