The Tantra Called: The Essence of All Teachings, the Sugatagarbha Residing as the Great Innate Nature of All Sentient Beings.

If the body is not a mass of light, then the limit of clarity will be cut off, and there will be no difference from the annihilationism of the heretics. Then the Secret Lord asked: 'Great Buddha of the Mass of Light, please speak of the view of the Buddha.' Thus he asked. Then the Buddha of the Mass of Light said: 'The view of the Buddha is to look at the mass of light. The three views of the Buddha are: the view of looking at the Dharmakaya, the view of looking at wisdom, and the view of looking at pure appearance.' The view of looking at the Dharmakaya is: when one's own awareness abides in its own nature, it is the Dharmakaya. When one looks with the mirror of Vajrasattva placed in one's own eyes, the Buddha's realm is seen, the light is fine and clear, bright and radiant, the nature is dazzling, shining without fear, appearing in three colors, this is the view of looking at the Buddha's realm.' Thus he said. Then the Secret Lord again asked: 'Buddha of the Mass of Light, please speak of the three qualities of the Buddha.' Thus he asked. Then the Great Buddha of the Mass of Light said: 'The Buddha comes out of the eyes, returns to samsara, and appears as the realm of wisdom, this is the merit of one's own awareness abiding in the mass of light. If one recognizes one's own light, one can become a Buddha without practice, this is the merit of the Buddha's Dharmakaya abiding in the unconditioned. If one's own awareness recognizes itself, one will not be obscured by good and evil deeds and can become a Buddha, this is the merit of self-born wisdom not produced by causes and conditions.' Thus he said. Then the Buddha of the Mass of Light said: 'Secret Lord, one's own awareness, the Dharmakaya, has no birth or death. The intention of the Buddha has no practice. If one recognizes the intention of the Buddha, then all good and evil deeds will be purified, and one will become a Buddha.' Thus he said. Then the Secret Lord asked again: 'Great Buddha of the Mass of Light, please speak of the three natures of the Buddha.' Thus he asked. Then the Buddha of the Mass of Light said: 'Secret Lord, listen. All sentient beings, from the center of their own hearts, abide in emptiness and awareness as the essence.'

Sa so! Awareness dwells in the realm of limitless light within the palace of light. Thus it was said. Then again it was said, "Secret Lord, listen to the three ways the Buddha appears. By looking into the mirror of the Buddha, the Buddha's pure land will appear. By looking into one's own awareness, signs will immediately appear. One's own awareness, the vast path, from the five lights of one's own body, by practicing, pure appearances will naturally arise." Thus he taught. Then again the Secret Lord asked, "O Buddha, mass of light, please speak of the three liberations of the Buddha." Thus he asked. The Buddha, mass of light, taught, "At the time of one's own death, by recognizing pure appearances, mistaken appearances are liberated into pure appearances, and the body of flesh and blood is liberated into a precious, blazing body of light. The mind with concepts is liberated into non-conceptual wisdom." Then again the Secret Lord asked, "O Buddha, mass of light, please speak of the three intentions of the Buddha." Thus he asked. Then the Buddha, mass of light, taught, "O Secret Lord, listen. Appearances return on their own, so there is no need to purify habitual tendencies. Wisdom comes like a needle, so there is no need to deliberately meditate. One's own awareness has no birth or death, so there is no need for the suffering of samsara." Thus he taught. From the tantra of the self-arisen Buddha, the chapter on directly showing the Buddha, the first chapter. Then again the Secret Lord asked, "O Buddha, mass of light, although you have spoken of eighty-four thousand collections of teachings, the root of all teachings is contained in pith instructions. How is the crucial point of all pith instructions to be cut?" Thus he asked. Then again the Buddha, mass of light, taught, "At the time of one's own death, the warmth disappears from the soles of the feet, rises up from the Brahma aperture at the crown of the head, the mind comes out from within the lungs, and the breath is cut off at the nostrils. When the Buddha comes forth from within the heart and goes out through the eyes, all appearances appear as light. At the time of appearance, by recognizing that as the Buddha, one merges into one's own light and body and becomes a Buddha. The crucial point of all pith instructions is to cut off the time when all appearances of existence appear as body and light." Thus he said. Then the Secret Lord asked, "Emaho, Buddha, mass of light."
