The Tantra of the Powerful Hayagriva Who Averts. ༄༅། །In Sanskrit: Pratigiramahabalahayagrivatantranama. In Tibetan: The Tantra of the Powerful Hayagriva Who Averts. Homage to the noble Avalokiteśvara, who possesses great compassion! Thus have I heard at one time. The Bhagavan, in the samadhi of utterly destroying all maras with the vajra and the wheel, resided on the peak of Mount Potala, together with the retinue of wrathful kings, such as the one who utterly triumphs over maras. Then, (the Bhagavan) said to the wrathful king Hayagriva: Please protect with compassion those beings who are tormented by maras and others! Hayagriva replied: Bhagavan, please explain how to protect and guard. The Bhagavan said: Well done! Well done! Hayagriva! You are the lord of great compassion, of great power, the king of knowledge, the holder of secret mantras. Your color is like red coral. I will explain to you, listen carefully. Then, the wrathful ones, such as the one who triumphs over maras, praised Hayagriva in a posture of striding from the right: Hayagriva, the king, the holder of knowledge mantras, the lord of great compassion, of great power, blessed by all the Buddhas, the king of knowledge who speaks, you hold the wisdom wrathful one. Then, the king Hayagriva rose from his seat and replied: I will do as such. Then, the retinue of wrathful ones and wrathful mothers, etc., holding flowers, incense, offering water, etc., as well as umbrellas and victory banners, etc., circumambulated the Bhagavan three times, and then remained in that very place, gazing at the Bhagavan. The wrathful king Hayagriva remained, gazing at the Bhagavan without blinking his eyes. From all directions of the Bhagavan's body, immeasurable rays of light emanated, dispelling all obstacles and causing them to be terrified. All directions of the earth shook violently, trembled greatly, swayed greatly, roared greatly, and flashed greatly.
