The Glorious Root Tantra of the Black Secret Moon. In Sanskrit: Guhyacandraśrīkāla Aprahārikālatantra. In Tibetan: The Glorious Root Tantra of the Black Secret Moon. Homage to the Bhagavan Manjushri Yamantaka! Thus have I heard. Once, the Bhagavan Manjushri Yamantaka, the great deity Yamantaka, was in the southern realm of Yama, in the great charnel ground called Tumdrag Tsal, which was immeasurably vast. The foundation appeared as gold, the walls appeared as lapis lazuli. The summit appeared as meteoric iron tombs. Adorned with lotus petals filled with wheels. The light of the wheels and meteoric iron radiated in all four directions. The rays of light were extremely dense, and the great fire of wisdom and action blazed intensely. Nets of great hooks, foot hooks, and snares were cast. The pillars of great corpses were adorned with makara-headed capitals. There were pillar bases of burning wheels. The walls of stacked skulls protruded. Banners of great fields, victory banners of makaras, parasols, and glorious flags were spread in all four directions. Many minds were densely packed like clouds. Oil dripped from the peaks. Blood boiled from the roots. Streams of blood flowed from the walls. Adorned with various mountains of fire from the eons. There were charnel grounds of skeletons, mansions of meteoric iron, palaces of wheels, charnel grounds of rotting corpses, and so on. There were thousands of charnel ground locations. The sun had the radiance of fire agate, the moon had the radiance of crystal, and the stars had the radiance of tiny flames. Adorned with many planets and stars. There were waves of great weapons, shadows of black winds, mountains of skeletons, and waves of fire mountains. Surrounded by a black iron fence. In such a place, there were many stacked charnel ground corpses. Completely filled with impurities. Pressed down. There were rotting corpses, half-rotting corpses, swollen corpses, completely rotten corpses, completely red corpses, completely swollen corpses, stiff corpses, completely stiff corpses, shattered skeletons, bones falling apart, swollen corpses, completely swollen corpses, standing corpses, lying corpses, tolerable corpses, fallen corpses, charnel ground corpses being dragged, being fanned by wings, being cut and cooked, corpses being enjoyed, and being completely pressed down by charnel ground grass. In that terrifying place, there are tigers and leopards, bears and grizzlies, crows and vultures, long-beaked vultures, owls flapping their wings, jackals with sharp fangs, carrion-eating foxes, eagles and owls, Lindu-kas, and insects like Kaka-rus, and all other flesh-eaters and blood-drinkers, bone-gnawers, filth-lickers, watchers, mockers, criers, lamenters, head-holders, chasers, fighters, fierce foot-stompers, ill-omened sound-makers, ugly-faced and smile-revealers, wheel-dance performers throwing iron arrows, curse-song singers blowing human-leg-bone trumpets, silk-banner wavers each in their own anger, flesh-eaters and blood-drinkers fiercely gnashing their teeth, gesture-makers and dancers throwing vajra lightning bolts, charnel grounds piled high like mountains full of ignorance, swirling waves of desire-blood, charnel grounds built into castles with hatred-bones, in that extremely terrifying and hair-raising place, on the thrones of buffaloes and elephants, and Yama lords suppressing billions, upon the stacked sun and moon mandalas, Manjushri Lord Yamantaka himself, abides in union with his consort, inseparable, in a posture of extending and contracting.
