As the sun of perfect merit nears its setting, the splendor of the star Mars fills with joy, and the joyous spring first displays its new form. When the fortunate gather together, the fierce lord of the yakshas conceals his face, and with compassionate heart re-enters the human womb. Praiseworthy is the noble one named Chandra, and all those in his retinue who possess matching fortune and sharp intellect. To childish minds, outer and inner appearances seem distinct, but in the essence of coemergent nature, they are of one taste. In order to clearly reveal the essential meaning, they expound the supreme Dharma, and discuss the profound Vajrayana. Thus, the five perfections are complete, and the victory banner is raised throughout the realms of existence, its form wondrous. In the small mirror of the wise mind, the first thing that appears is the image of vast learning and diligent effort. In order to perfect the four means of gathering, and so that the fruits of the Buddha's great deeds may continue, upon the Dharma thrones of the northern lands of accumulation, there successively appeared beings endowed with names, auspiciousness, and royal lineage. In particular, they mastered various lineages and vast teachings, gathering the single lineage of Vajra into the five tantras. They are the gatherers, the revered knots of speech of the lord of men, who liberate with the light of a hundred-petaled lotus. They protect the teachings of scripture and realization with the powerful strength of the unbroken lineage of great beings. Their splendor shines upon the eastern ridges of the snowy mountains, a kindness accomplished by the translators and panditas who possess the eye of Dharma. The various explanations of profound meaning are as numerous as wells, ponds, and rivers. Just as the ketaka tree can purify turbidity, so too do the three oceans of wisdom arise from them. They established thousands of treatises with vast reasoning, and condensed the essential points of practice into pithy instructions. Like a necklace of white shells and the sun, this vision is the eye of all wise beings today. Even I, with the motivation of respect, constancy, and diligence, and with a mind of equality and inequality, have, by the light of innate wisdom, perceived some aspects of this path. May these fruits, like the moon that benefits all beings, manifest in the sky with valleys and the movement of wheels. May it unerringly guide beings to make choices of good and bad on the earth.
