Collection of Teachings by Master Tsongkhapa JTs22 Longevity Practice for Unpleasant Sounds 2-6-1a Longevity Practice for Unpleasant Sounds Longevity Practice for Unpleasant Sounds 2-6-1b Homage to the root and lineage gurus, For the method of accomplishing the vidyādhara of longevity, According to the instructions of the omniscient guru, Here, I shall write it clearly. Desiring to practice the self-existing essence of immortality, it is best to complete it in the morning before the crow caws. In any case, before speaking to anyone, sit on a comfortable seat, generate refuge and bodhicitta in the usual way, and establish certainty in your mind. In particular, generate great devotion to the root and lineage gurus of this practice. With the intention of achieving Buddhahood, it is important to have a long life to practice the Dharma, so generate the aspiration to accomplish the vidyādhara of longevity. Then, visualize yourself clearly as Amitāyus (Tibetan: Tshe dpag med), and from the HRIH (Sanskrit: Hrih, Seed Syllable) at your heart, rays of light emanate, inviting Amitāyus from Sukhavati (the Pure Land of Bliss), surrounded by the root and lineage gurus, etc., to appear in the sky before you. Make offerings and perform the seven-branch practice. Meditate on the four immeasurables. Please the assembly of merit, and as they dissolve into you, your body transforms into light. Recite: OM SHUNYATA JÑANA VAJRA SVABHAVA ATMAKO'HAM and meditate on emptiness. From emptiness, visualize from PAM a lotus of iron with eight petals, upon which burns a dark blue flame. Above that, from AH arises a full moon disc. Upon the moon, there is a red HRIH with a dot, hook, and long vowel mark, which emits light. Purify the sins and obscurations of all sentient beings, especially purifying the obstacles to life, and establish them in the state of Amitāyus. 2-6-2a Make offerings that please all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and request them. Gather all the blessings of these beings, as well as the power of all the substances of the mundane and supramundane realms, such as medicinal essences, and dissolve them into the HRIH, completely transforming yourself into Buddha Amitāyus, with a body color like red coral, one face, two arms holding a vase filled with the nectar of immortality on the lap with the mudra of meditation, the vase is made of precious gold, adorned with a wish-fulfilling tree, and with a scarf of divine cloth. The two legs are in the vajra posture. Wearing three red silk Dharma robes, the head is adorned with the ushnisha and other marks and signs. With a backdrop of a full moon, and the sun and moon rising on the right and left shoulders. Residing in the midst of swirling red light. At his crown is a white OM, and at his throat is a red AH. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Red body. Blue Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Seed syllable) at the heart. Inside the abdomen, near the back, there is an iron life-force channel, like a bamboo pole, with its upper end inserted into the crown of the head and its lower end inserted into the secret place. Within it, the central channel is like an arrow shaft, bluish-gray in color with a reddish sheen, filled with clear light, with red and green winds flashing within it. Like images appearing in a mirror, there are eight circles of clear mantra garlands, with the heads of the four directions pointing upwards and the heads of the four corners pointing downwards, the beginning and end of the mantras connected, pervading the entire central channel from top to bottom. Inside the lower end of the central channel, there is a red Amitāyus (梵文音译,意为无量寿) identical to oneself, and inside the upper end, there is a white Amitāyus, with the same appearance as oneself, possessing a mass of light, with the head pointing upwards. In the center of the heart chakra, directly in line with the central channel, there is an Amitāyus identical to oneself, red with a bluish sheen. In its heart, on top of a moon disc, there is a vase filled with the nectar of immortal life. Within it, on the moon disc, there is a golden five-pronged vajra (梵文音译,意为金刚). Directly at its center, on a moon cushion, inside a light-emitting gau box (a type of amulet box), there is a red Hrīḥ (藏文:ཧྲཱིཿ,梵文天城体:ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:Seed syllable) syllable, with a long vowel mark and a bindu, and a blue Hūṃ syllable, intertwined with each other, emitting five rays of light, the embodiment of the five wisdoms, visualizing it as the essence of one's own mind. The inner Hrīḥ syllable and the outer Hūṃ syllable emit light rays like iron hooks. Inviting the wisdom Amitāyus from the upper realm of qualities and virtues, identical to oneself, visualizing it as residing behind the crown of one's head, reciting: Om Aparimita Ayurjnana Saparivara Vajra Samaja. Forming the vajra gathering mudra. Praising with one śloka (梵文音译,意为颂) such as 'Leading the world'. Offering with offerings, praying: Hūṃ! Abandoning birth and death, obtaining the vajra life, grant me the accomplishment of longevity. Reciting Om Vajra Ayukhe Sarva Hakara Resara Ri Hum Phet three times, after praying, the heart of the Amitāyus above emits red light rays like iron hooks, radiating in the ten directions. Releasing and recalling all that has been stolen by others from one's own life and merit since beginningless time, as well as what has flowed upwards, scattered, been taken away, or been mortgaged, transforming it into the nectar of immortality, dissolving into the vase of the Amitāyus above, the nectar boiling, the vase tilting outwards, entering one's own crown from the mouth, filling all the channels of the body. Restoring one's diminished life and merit, replenishing what is missing, and supplementing what is exhausted. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
