Ananda, let alone the continent of Jambudvipa. Ananda, the continent called Eastern Videha, its width is eight thousand yojanas, and there are also eight thousand yojanas in the water, and it is like a crescent moon in all respects. Whatever son of a family or daughter of a family fills it with the seven precious substances and constantly offers it to those who have entered the stream, those who return once, those who do not return, the arhats, the pratyekabuddhas, and the sangha of monks from the four directions, and whoever makes a stupa of clay for the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha who has passed into complete nirvana, the size of an emblic myrobalan; has a life-tree inserted, the size of a needle; has an umbrella placed, the size of a birch leaf; has an image made, the size of a grain; and has relics placed, the size of a mustard seed, Ananda, I say that this one would have extremely great merit. Ananda, the continent of Uttarakuru in the north, called "Unpleasant Sound," which is 10,000 yojanas wide and 10,000 yojanas deep, and is square on all sides. If any son or daughter of good family were to fill it with the seven precious things and constantly offer it to the Stream-enterers, the Once-returners, the Non-returners, the Arhats, the Pratyekabuddhas, and the Sangha of monks from the four directions; or if someone were to have a stupa made of clay for the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, who has completely passed into Nirvana, as small as an amla seed, the life-tree as small as a needle, the umbrella as small as a camphor leaf, and take something as small as a seed from the body, and if one were to insert a relic as small as a mustard seed, Ananda, I say that the merit is far greater than that. Ananda, let alone Jambudvipa, let alone Purvavideha in the east, let alone Aparagodaniya in the west, let alone Uttarakuru in the north. Ananda, there is a palace of the lord of the gods, Indra, called "Victorious." If any son or daughter of good family, who has faith, were to fill it with the seven precious things and constantly offer it to the Stream-enterers, the Once-returners, the Non-returners, the Arhats, the Pratyekabuddhas, and the Sangha of monks from the four directions; or if they were to have a stupa made of clay for the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, who has completely passed into Nirvana, as small as an amla seed, the life-tree as small as a needle, the umbrella as small as a camphor leaf, and take something as small as a seed from the body, and if one were to insert a relic as small as a mustard seed, Ananda, I say that the merit is far greater than that. 觀看東勝身洲吧！觀看東方勝身洲吧！觀看西方牛貨洲吧！觀看北方俱盧洲吧！觀看天神之王帝釋天的善妙宮殿吧！阿難陀，有三千大千世界。善男子或善女子，無論是誰，用七寶充滿三千大千世界，持續不斷地供養入流者、一來者、不來者、阿羅漢、獨覺以及四方僧眾。如果有人使如來、應供、正等覺者圓寂後的舍利塔，用泥土做成芥子大小，並在其中安立針尖大小的命杆，覆蓋杜鵑葉大小的傘蓋，塑造青稞大小的佛像，並在其中安放芥子大小的舍利，阿難陀，我說此人所獲福德遠勝前者。這是為什麼呢？阿難陀，因為如來、應供、正等覺者有無量布施、無量持戒、無量忍辱、無量精進、無量禪定、無量智慧，從慈愛到捨棄都是無量的。阿難陀，如來、應供、正等覺者具備無量功德。世尊如是宣說之後，具壽阿難陀以及諸比丘對世尊所說心生歡喜，並讚歎不已。《疊室經》到此圓滿。

Behold the Videha continent! Behold the eastern Videha continent! Behold the western Godaniya continent! Behold the northern Kuru continent! Behold the excellent palace of Indra, the king of gods! Ananda, there is the trichiliocosm. Whatever son or daughter of good family, having filled the trichiliocosm with the seven precious things, constantly offers them to those who have entered the stream, those who return once, those who do not return, the Arhats, the Pratyekabuddhas, and the Sangha of monks from the four directions. And if someone were to make a stupa of clay the size of a mustard seed from the relics of the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha, after his complete passing into nirvana, and were to insert a life-tree the size of a needle, and cover it with an umbrella the size of a rhododendron leaf, and make an image the size of a barleycorn, and place relics the size of a mustard seed within it, Ananda, I say that this one would have far more merit. Why is that? Ananda, because the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha, has immeasurable generosity, immeasurable morality, immeasurable patience, immeasurable diligence, immeasurable meditation, immeasurable wisdom, and immeasurable loving-kindness up to equanimity. Ananda, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha, is endowed with immeasurable qualities. Thus spoke the Blessed One, and the venerable Ananda and those monks rejoiced in what the Blessed One had said and greatly praised it. The Sutra of the Layered Chamber is complete.
