For example, pillars and vases, etc., say, \"I am the union of appearance and emptiness, I am here.\" Sound also says, \"I am sound and emptiness, like an echo.\" If it is said that giving is enjoyment, then when seeing poor and inferior beings, one should say, \"From now until enlightenment, I will give you inexhaustible enjoyment.\" Enemies should also say, \"From now until enlightenment, I will give you a beautiful form.\" Blending wisdom and mind without distinction and abiding in equality is the ultimate Bodhicitta. From that, great love and compassion arise for the realm of beings, which is the relative Bodhicitta. Relative Bodhicitta has two types: aspirational Bodhicitta and engaging Bodhicitta. Ah! For beings in the three realms of existence, in the face of the definitive understanding of the view of the union of appearance and emptiness, the grasping of negation, the grasping of affirmation, grasping of existence, grasping of non-existence, self-grasping, grasping of phenomena, and grasping of person are all liberated. The existence or non-existence of objects, the two graspers, etc., also cease. Emptiness that abandons the appearance aspect is merely annihilation emptiness, and how can permanence that abandons the emptiness aspect be? Because it is very close to reality, it can be said to be luminosity. If there is no motivation, even being skilled in words is useless. Even making a firm determination is useless. If there is no compassion, virtuous deeds will become the cause of being reborn in the realm of Yama. Mipham Rinpoche said this to Khenpo Tsultrim Gya, and Dodrupchen Rinpoche also said this. In the key points of the deity of the generation stage of Paltrul Rinpoche, it is said that those who understand emptiness, have clear appearances in the generation stage, have completed the number of recitations, and lack compassion will be reborn in the realm of Yama, and the intentions of these lamas are the same. Talking and talking reduces listening. Sitting and sitting wears out the cushion. Reciting and reciting wears out the rosary, no matter how much you do, if your own mindstream has not separated from afflictions, it is difficult. The Kadampa school uses black and white pebbles to examine their thoughts, and now even if they presume to know the doctrines of the three great schools, it is very difficult. One's own faults, as big as a mountain, are not seen, but the faults of others, as small as a louse, are seen. Behavior is improper." } ] ============================================================

Even residing in the mountains can lead to misconduct, while living in a city with laws can lead to virtue. It is said that there are individuals whose bodies are among gods and humans, yet their minds dwell in the realm of the Buddhas. Therefore, it is crucial to identify the phenomena to be negated. What is to be negated? It is self-grasping. If self-grasping is not completely eradicated, not only the views of Mahamudra and Dzogchen, but even calm abiding (shamatha) will be obstructed. The samadhi free from the six types of distraction is the characteristic of calm abiding. Natural distraction occurs when the five sense consciousnesses look outward, and are swayed by objects such as forms and sounds, causing one to rise from samadhi. This is natural distraction. On top of that, when mind consciousness arises, recollecting the past, anticipating the future, and generating conceptual thoughts that grasp at the characteristics of external and internal objects, this is external distraction. Internally, savoring the taste of samadhi, clinging to bliss and clarity, and being unable to detach from that state, this is internal distraction. Thinking that one's realization is superior to others, with arrogance and pride, feeling that "I am the best, how wonderful!", this is the distraction of grasping at signs. This is not acceptable. Even when striving for virtue, one should not have arrogant self-conceit. It is said that virtuous intention must begin from here and grow continuously until enlightenment, without separation. With self-grasping, thinking "I am confused, I am liberated," this is the distraction of taking up bad states. If there is a mind with selfish intentions, one must be free from the six distractions, including mental distraction. Whether doing things for oneself or for others, one must subdue self-grasping. The early Tibetans identified self-grasping as the root of samsara, like the axle of a wheel. The later Tibetans considered both grasping at phenomena and grasping at self as the root of samsara, because afflictive obscurations are the root of samsara. It is said that the empty lights of thigle, like throwing a stone into calm water, appear as round thigle, with colors of red and yellow, varying in size, with vibrant colors, and surrounded by five-colored halos. Most pure practitioners will see them surrounded by lotus petals. It is said that if one does not meditate for a year or two, such appearances will not occur. The Omniscient One said that during the realization of dharmata, the empty lights sometimes appear and sometimes do not, while during progression, the empty lights appear continuously. Speculating on external light phenomena, etc., will pollute the mind-stream.
