Gently release outwards from within. Rectify the motivation well. Pray to the lama with one-pointed devotion, and blend your mind with his. Then, leave awareness in its natural state, without fabrication, clear and pristine. In this state, whatever good or bad appearances arise, rest without grasping, like stars appearing in the ocean. Whatever good or bad thoughts arise, do not abandon them, as they are like water and waves, the play of awareness. Do not follow after thoughts. Without observing, scrutinizing, or acknowledging thoughts, rest in the uncorrected state of awareness, without distraction or grasping. If dullness or drowsiness arises, break it up, and it is crucial to bring forth a clear and lucid state of awareness. If you become accustomed and familiar, experiences will arise. However, with all experiences, good or bad, the key is to cultivate the essence of awareness itself, without hope, fear, acceptance, or rejection. Finally, make a complete dedication and aspiration, and conclude the session. If you cannot persevere and sustain effort in meditation, it will be extremely difficult to liberate the mindstream with mere empty words of view, and superficial meditative appearances in walking, sitting, and other activities. In post-meditation, gather awareness slightly, and in a state of non-distraction, walking, sitting, eating, sleeping, speaking, working, all of these should be carried onto the path as the natural power of awareness, in a way that is ungrasping, self-liberating, free from hope and fear, and without acceptance or rejection. In terms of conduct, there is the secret conduct of equanimity towards the eight worldly concerns, and the conduct of adopting virtue and abandoning negativity according to the teachings. Secret conduct is: gain, praise, fame, and happiness. No matter how much these four worldly favorable conditions arise, they are of no benefit whatsoever to the essence of awareness. Therefore, do not have any hope, effort, attachment, or pursuit towards them, but maintain equanimity in awareness. Loss, criticism, bad reputation, and suffering. No matter how intensely and for how long these four worldly unfavorable conditions befall you, they will not harm the essence of awareness in the slightest. Therefore, do not try to prevent them, nor engage in mental defenses or retaliation, etc. If you can maintain equanimity in awareness, then no further secret conduct is needed. If you cannot do this, you will become like those who "cover up faults with a lack of view," and those who "pretend to be practitioners when they are full and warm in the sunshine, but become vulgar when disaster strikes." The conduct of adopting virtue and abandoning negativity

It is said that although the cause of happiness and suffering is the skill of both good and evil, all virtuous qualities such as compassion and wisdom arising from meditation are more excellent than others, arising effortlessly, and all that should be abandoned, such as ignorance, self-grasping, and wrong views, are purified from the root without the need for other antidotes. If one says that there is no harm in taking evil, then that is the work of a black demon, difficult to subdue. If the cause of virtue is abandoned, it will hinder the self-result of rising to liberation. If the cause of non-virtue is cultivated, then there is no doubt that the foundation of the suffering of evil destinies and cyclic existence will be established. Therefore, this infallible path of karma and result cannot be changed even by the hand of the Victorious One. Therefore, put your trust in the Lama and the Three Jewels. Hold in your heart the faith of believing in cause and effect. Sacrifice the happiness of this life, such as food, clothing, and speech. Rely on solitary places. Associate with Dharma friends. Follow the footsteps of the holy predecessors. Dedicate all generosity, perseverance, diligence to the holy Dharma alone. At all times and in all ways, do not despise even the slightest virtue of the three doors, but with awareness, be a person who is complete with the three qualities, pure, and whose words and deeds are consistent. Based on that, no matter how much good quality arises in your own mind, do not be satisfied with the measure of virtue and merit. Do not be self-righteous, prejudiced, arrogant, proud, or show off. Think about your own faults and take the lower position. You must strive from the bottom of your heart to spend the rest of your life with the holy Dharma. Avoid all the non-virtuous deeds and transgressions of the three doors, both small and large, like poison, and let the first thought of evil arise and dissolve at the same time. Even if that is not the case, you must not let the evil thoughts that arise from listening to the Dharma run wild, so immediately abandon them with an antidote. If evil involuntarily arises, or if you are stained by the evil deeds of previous lives, strive to practice the confession method that is complete with the four powers. The appearance of this life is momentary, like a dream, unreliable, and meaningless, so you must not carry an evil deed on your back in the next life for the sake of this.
