The Essential Instructions on the Practice of Dzogchen: The Oral Transmission of Nyagla Sonam Gyal The Essential Instructions on the Practice of Dzogchen: The Oral Transmission of Nyagla Sonam Gyal The Essential Instructions on the Practice of Dzogchen, spoken by Nyagla Sonam Gyal. There are three parts: the preliminary practice of demolishing the house of the mind, the main practice of introducing awareness, and the subsequent practice of explaining the practice. Within the preliminary practice, there are also three parts: cutting off the root of the mind, examining the three places of arising, abiding, and going, and the method of recognizing awareness. The method of cutting off the root is as follows: The main thing that creates the cause of virtue and vice and experiences the result of happiness and suffering is the mind, and the two, body and speech, are its retinue. Body and speech are the magical displays of the mind, like water and a bubble, so the mind is most important. The method of examining the three places of arising, abiding, and going is as follows: Thus, all the various good and bad appearances of the outer environment, the five elements, and the inner sentient beings' three doors, which seem to be truly existent, are all magical displays of one's own mind, like a dream. All the thoughts of one's own mind in the three times, past, present, and future, and the momentary thoughts of the present, are the same in terms of whether they are truly established or not. If one knows that a single thought is free from the three, arising, abiding, and ceasing, then one understands the meaning of all phenomena being without inherent existence, like cutting off the root of a tree. Therefore, when a single thought arises now, examine and scrutinize the place where it arises, and if you know its nature to be without inherent existence, there is no place of arising, no place of abiding, and no place of going, and you see the meaning of the object of grasping being emptiness. If you examine well the thought that arises, and you also realize that it is without inherent existence, then the one who arises, the one who abides, and the one who goes are not established, and you realize that the mind that grasps is the meaning of emptiness. Thus, all phenomena that include the two, grasper and grasped, appear to be existent in the delusion of the three, arising, abiding, and ceasing, but if you examine and scrutinize, nothing is established, and you must understand the nature of being without inherent existence, like an illusion or a dream.

It is the unchanging nature, so don't be mistaken. Don't mistake the mind and awareness of the basis of all, etc., which are without conceptualization. The nature of awareness is that wisdom is spontaneously present and complete. Although it does not conceptualize, it knows and is aware of everything, without the defilement of ignorance. In the main part: Introducing the essence of awareness in its unaltered, natural state; Introducing all phenomena encompassed by the duality of grasping and being grasped as a single taste in the play of awareness, and cutting through them in one go; Explaining how all arising thoughts are liberated in awareness. Introduction: Awareness, which is not mistaken for conceptual thought, is naturally present, self-illuminating, clear and bright, Open and relaxed, Requiring no fabrication whatsoever, Indestructible, The more it is destroyed, the clearer and brighter it becomes, Its essence does not change. This is the unmistaken Dharmakaya of awareness, so there is no mind essence to show that is superior to this. The way to cut through is that various objects and, All thoughts, good and bad, although they appear as the self-display of awareness-wisdom, like water and waves, different and dual, But in reality, they are non-dual, so there is no need to accept or reject anything. It is extremely important to have a definite understanding of the single taste of the nature of great awareness-wisdom. The way of liberation is: When awareness is lost and completely controlled by conceptual thought, that is delusion. In a state where awareness is not distracted, all conceptual thoughts arise from awareness itself, Abide in the state of awareness, And dissolve into awareness, that is liberation. Moreover, it is best to be liberated without conceptual thoughts harming or benefiting awareness. It is intermediate to be liberated in its own place without clinging to or fabricating conceptual thoughts. Even if conceptual thoughts harm awareness, it is the last way of liberation to recognize that this is the self-display of awareness and to place it in awareness. In any case, Liberation is the wisdom of awareness, What is to be liberated is all good and bad conceptual thoughts, The way of liberation is that in the state of awareness, conceptual thoughts are purified in their own place, liberated like waves dissolving into water. Also, regarding how to maintain post-meditation practice: Meditation, Conduct, Fruit. Meditation has two aspects: equipoise and post-meditation. Equipoise is: In a secluded place, The boundary is well-defined. Abandoning all other activities of body, speech, and mind, sit on a comfortable cushion with the body straight and comfortable, without moving. Look straight ahead without moving the eyes. Purify the breath well and exhal
