From the Treasury of Precious Qualities, it is said: "As long as one is intensely attached to 'I' and 'mine,' manifest pride will persist." Next is Co-emergent Liberation: The very awareness of the indivisible union of luminosity and emptiness, the three kayas, is endowed with the three natural dharmas, not made by action, not accomplished by effort. The very primordial ground of natural arising has no basis for liberation, not even an atom, from the very beginning. The meaning of "co-emergent liberation" is that beings are not liberated now through effort. Although the outer appearances of the self-sounding of wisdom cease, the clarity does not cease, so it is co-emergent liberation. No matter how it arises from the light of compassion's awareness, it is primordially arisen and primordially abiding, so it is the nature of co-emergent liberation, free from the object and subject of abiding. Even the eighty-four thousand afflictions, like painting the feet of eighty-four thousand birds with many colors, when those birds fly in the sky, no color traces remain. Similarly, one should be certain that all that arises from the beginning is the nature of co-emergent liberation. Next is Self-Liberation: In the realm of the union of luminosity and emptiness, the three—appearances, sounds, and awareness—do not go beyond deity, mantra, and dharmata. Therefore, all that arises—outer and inner, vessel and essence, time and secrets, and the conceptual thoughts of afflictions—is the nature of self-liberation. Without time to rely on antidotes, it cannot stand on its own, so it is self-liberation. As Longchenpa said: "At the time of arising, it simultaneously arises and seizes its own ground. At the time of abiding, it simultaneously abides and seizes its own ground. At the time of liberation, it simultaneously liberates and seizes its own ground." Next is Vast Liberation: In the realm of the union of luminosity and emptiness, the dharmas of samsara and nirvana are without acceptance or rejection, and all are realized as equality and pervasiveness. Therefore, in the Great Perfection, there is nothing that is not liberated, so it is called Vast Liberation. Daki Vajra said: "The yoga of vast liberation is like the rising sun at dawn. It is the appearance of the dharmakaya, Emaho!" Next is Bare Liberation: In the state of the view of luminosity and emptiness, although all appearances of phenomena are realized as being completely pervasive in the realm of dharmata, in the stage of subsequent attainment, when encountering external circumstances, even if one is momentarily seized by external objects, merely by remembering the lama, the way of looking with the eyes, and straightening the body, one immediately goes to the view, so it is bare liberation. Like the view of a great thunderbolt, by looking directly, it vanishes into the place of seeing. Next is...

A-grol (Initial Liberation) is: its essence is inexpressible, primordially pure, originally empty, free from elaboration, therefore liberated from the extreme of permanence. The radiance of wisdom is unobstructed, therefore liberated from the extreme of annihilation. Compassion is in union, therefore liberated from the extreme of duality. Liberated from the extremes of one and many, therefore it is liberation from extremes. Yongs-grol (Complete Liberation) is: liberated without remainder, therefore it is said to be complete liberation. Ultimate object to be accomplished.
