To see the truth of reality, To realize the unconditioned state of being. It is spoken to transmit the practice lineage, Not to disrupt the teachings. If one does not thoroughly understand, The distinction between the path and the wrong path, To regard phenomena as illusory, This view is also held by non-Buddhists. All phenomena are unborn from the beginning, Without clinging and without conceptualization, The clear and unobstructed, Practice of view is also present in Bon. If one says that everything is emptiness, Neglecting the infallible distinction of cause and effect, If view and conduct are not integrated, How can one be worthy of being a supreme being? The view of non-emptiness and true existence, And the assertion of nihilistic emptiness, Attachment to the experience of foolish meditation, etc., These views all appear to be elaborate. Those conceptualizations that cling to words, Are bound by the shackles of sectarianism, The innate mind is originally free from defilements, Though it abides within oneself, it is not recognized. Now in this land of snow mountains, Due to the mental errors of ordinary people, The philosophical tenets established by intellectual speculation, Are proclaimed by many to be Dzogchen. With various sectarian teachings, Deceiving ignorant children, Entering the path of freedom from gradual effort, This situation has persisted for a long time. The higher seeing that prevents the extreme of existence, And the great compassion that prevents the extreme of peace, The co-emergence of clear light, uncompounded, This is the path of the supreme vehicle. All phenomena are empty in nature, Free from the three characteristics of arising, ceasing, and abiding, Uncompounded, not created by conditions, Are the teachings of the Teacher, the Sugata. In sutras such as the "Display of the Essence," etc., The essence of the Tathagatagarbha is extensively explained. In the sutras of the intermediate turning of the wheel, The three doors of liberation are taught. This is what is called the Self-Nature Basis Tantra, in the common Mantrayana. In the uncommon Mantra tantras, It is called the Self-Arisen Primordial Ground. This nature of the Dharmakaya, Is originally without bondage and without liberation, Without annihilation and without permanence, Without effort and without practice, it is primordially enlightened. Because it is primordially liberated, there is no need for effort, Because it is self-liberated, there is no need for an antidote, Because it is instantly liberated, there is no before or after, Because it is nakedly liberated, it vanishes in what is seen. If one knows its nature, Then whatever arises is the play of the Dharmakaya, Due to the connection of cause and effect, before and after, There is no opportunity to accumulate habitual tendencies, and it is liberated, The effort of the antidote subsides into the expanse.

The bondage of clinging to memory is severed. The knots of grasping are loosened. The skin of various experiences is shed. The emptiness of the unpredicted is stretched. The false cave of the field of appearance collapses. The stake of clinging, the mind, is pulled out. The middle ground of non-duality and equality is overturned. If abiding, the three bodies abide in their own state. If arising, wisdom appears as a playful dance. If liberated, it is liberated in the primordial space. If equal, it is equal in the state of non-duality. This is the nature of the Dharmakaya, Not achieved by the efforts of an individual, Nor is it liberation through meditation, such as cultivating the paths and grounds. To the mad beggar who speaks thus, There is no study of the treatises of the wise, Nor familiarity with the experiences of the accomplished. This way is my own creation, Though you should not trust it. But why write it then? Because you urged me again and again. It is merely to fulfill your wishes without contradiction. Thus wrote the lowly disciple of the great accomplished Buddha Shriwan, the yogi Padma Vajra (another name for Yukhok Repa) from the solitary mountain of Gold Land, Tashi Dungkar Yakyil. May virtue and excellence increase! Answers to questions about meditation: six irrelevant lies of the owl.
