Answers to Questions on Meditation: The Six Irrelevant Lies of the Owl Answers to Questions on Meditation: The Six Irrelevant Lies of the Owl Answers to Questions on Meditation: The Six Irrelevant Lies of the Owl. From the beginning, having manifestly awakened, the name is also Buddha, the meaning is also Buddha. The glorious yogi, enjoys the indestructible wheel in the heart center. The supreme chariot of the three realms and nine expanses, the guides who went to the noble land of India, and the omniscient father and sons, etc., the victorious ones who went to the cool land. As a lowly disciple of the lord, I am a dharma-less beggar. Like an elephant tormented by thirst, towards the lotus pond in your presence, the thought of entering it increases day by day, like a waxing moon, but by the sharp iron hook of distraction, from the past until now, I have been controlled by others. Friends, your questions about meditation, although gathered here, I am a foolish and ignorant person, with little learning and small wisdom, although not skilled in poetic composition, nevertheless, the dharma of both samsara and nirvana, however it may appear, from the perspective of awareness, from the expanse beyond the bonds of clinging to truth, I draw out a song of contemplation. Ah! The root of all dharmas is, renunciation, turning away from samsara, and the aspiration for the benefit of others, bodhicitta, appearances and existence are pure, called pure appearance, this is what the Indian and Tibetan scholars have repeatedly said. Hearing, thinking, and meditating, and the stages of generation and completion, etc., are the excellent path of guru yoga. Whatever appears, seeing it as the guru, if you can shed tears with faith, then the blessing of the guru's mind-stream and realization, there is no doubt that it will be transferred to your mind-stream. For this supreme path, from behind, clinging to nominal words, and foolishly insisting on meditation, etc., I do not think it is the Buddha's teaching. Regarding your first question, nowadays some great meditators, for the state of being free from conceptual thoughts, through the power of repeated meditation, see the day and night mixed together. Regarding what is a fault in samadhi, what is faultless, etc., please speak the answer. Even if you say so, please examine and analyze this. Even if the state of mind is stable, but if the clinging to it is not released, then the mixing of day and night, etc., is merely an experience, not realization. Mostly, through continuous one-pointedness

Without clear discernment, Many are lulled into meditative sleep, And boast of having attained luminosity. Sometimes, even without distraction or error, In the state of pacified conceptual thought, It is merely the habit of familiarity, Not liberation from the depths of intention. Also, during the second question, When meditating with mere non-distraction, If the shepherd of mindfulness is not lost, Although it is heard that one realizes without meditation, Meditating with mere non-distraction, Is said to be an obscuration of knowledge. If one cannot abandon that, It is not the nature of reality beyond mind. Why is it that meditating with mere non-distraction, That mind does not transcend the limits? On the subtle grasping of memory in the mind, It is said that there is samadhi of focus. Although the nature of reality free from memory is called, Non-meditation, If the shepherd of mindfulness is not lost, How can there be non-meditation in that? The so-called non-meditation is just a term, If one wants it to be non-existent in meaning, Then because it abides on the edge of non-existence, That view is also not correct, It cannot be the nature of freedom from elaboration. If that view of annihilation, Is indeed the correct view, Then the nihilistic view of the heretics would also be liberated. Such refutations and establishments, Although there are many things to say, But here, fearing many letters, I will not speak, just that much. The deliberate grasping of "this is it," and The certainty of "it is so," etc., If they are not exhausted in the realm of equality, Then how can one realize the meaning of the nature of reality? If one does not realize the meaning of the nature of reality, Although there is no other way to cut the root of existence, This profound discussion of experience and realization, Is of little use to the narrow eye of wisdom. However, in the case of the third question, Between the cessation of former and later conceptual thoughts, If one recognizes the state of emptiness, Although it is said to be regarded as the view of equality, That experience of emptiness made with deliberate grasping, Is not the wisdom of equality itself. Whether it is so or not, ask the vast and boundless, The Wish-Fulfilling Treasury of Eloquent Explanation. Merely the clarity of pacified conceptual thought, Is not the wisdom of clear vipassanā. There is a state, but there is no liberation. Some great meditators are bound here. Between the cessation of the former and the latter, There is a great force of emptiness experience, Although it is made the heart-stone of meditation, Who would trust in that? However, in the instructions of Mahāmudrā and Dzogchen, Although such an establishment is explained, That is for the faithful practitioners, To lead them into the realm of dharma,
