Meditating on emptiness, this is the eighth contemplation stage. Holding the vase breath in union posture, in the center of the navel, contemplate the upper part of the body, a four-finger-high butter lamp flickering. Contemplate that the flickering of the lamp makes the body feel comfortable. Through the practice of downward elimination and guiding the internal, generate some comfort. This is contemplating bliss, the ninth contemplation stage. When these three respective experiences, realizations, and signs arise, in the state of unchanging nature, inexpressible, the taste of the mind becomes joyful and clear, appearing as a bright deity image, contemplate that which is inseparable from the inwardly looking awareness. This unwavering great bliss union, the non-dual wisdom ultimate yoga is the tenth contemplation stage. These three are the main practice. The third is: Do not be attached to the experience of clarity of mind, and know it as like an illusion. Similarly, do not be attached to the experience of bliss and emptiness. Do not be attached to and delighted in praise, happiness, perfect enjoyment, wealth, and so on. Do not be discouraged and displeased by blame, suffering, poverty, and so on. Know everything as like a dream, and recognize their equality. Whatever phenomena of happiness, suffering, joy, or displeasure arise, blend them as much as possible into the realm of non-attachment. The fourth is: In order to accomplish the unsurpassed enlightenment, one must train in the six perfections of the bodhisattva's conduct in every way. Take vows again and again. This is the eleventh contemplation stage. Similarly, take vows to train in the four means of gathering, this is the twelfth contemplation stage. Because these sentient beings must be quickly placed on the level of Buddhahood, but the path of the perfections is very slow. Therefore, through the ripening empowerments and the path of liberation, place them on the level of Buddhahood in this very life. Take vows again and again. This is the thirteenth contemplation stage. These two are subsequent or branch dharmas, similar to the thirteen bhumis, these are the thirteen contemplation stages. These four instructions are called the foundational dharma. The essence of the foundational dharma is to introduce the view of reality, to introduce the selflessness of its object, to introduce self-awareness wisdom as the ultimate truth, and to introduce it as the great bliss union.

It is like this. First, in the state of abiding equally in the nature of mind, one fully observes the external appearances and recognizes them, because there is no distinction between the object and the mind. The appearance itself is one's own mind, appearing as form is bright, appearing as sound is clear, and likewise, all that appears as smell, taste, and touch are all determined to be not appearing separately from one's own mind, this is the first introduction. Then, for the appearances of one's own mind, whatever arises as afflictions and discursive thoughts, like images in a mirror, recognize and determine that they appear from the beginning without grasping. This is because the duality of grasper and grasped is determined to be without self-nature, so it is the second introduction. Whatever arises as bodily appearances and mental appearances, determine that they are merely mistaken self-appearances, and that the nature of mind is never tainted, this is the third introduction, which is the introduction that the stains of adventitious ignorance have never existed from the beginning. Second, the essence of mind, although it is beyond the objects of grasping and expression, self-knowing and self-awareness are never interrupted, and before the appearance of objects and the arising of discursive thoughts, there is no difference or change, and it is determined through experience, this is the introduction to the ultimate truth of non-dual wisdom, it is the fourth introduction. Third, the appearance of mind is uninterrupted, the pure and impure realms of vessel and contents can appear, because appearance and emptiness are inexpressible, so it is the pure mandala, and its essence is completely unchanging, appearing as blissful taste, this is the great bliss born together, these two have no separate essence except for different names, and it is determined on this single moment of awareness, this is the instruction on the union of one's own mind, it is the fifth introduction. These are the five introductions in sequence, symbolizing the five Buddha families. Thus, the basis is the Dharma, and the core is the introduction, this is called the guidance endowed with five perfections. The first guidance is similar to the perfection of place, because it is the basis for generating all qualities. The second guidance is similar to the perfection of the teacher, because he is the main one. The third guidance is similar to the perfection of time, because it removes obstacles and increases benefits, time is supreme.

It is like the lotus assembly, because it is the second retinue. The fifth instruction is like the perfection of Dharma, because it is to be experienced by both the main and surrounding figures. Therefore, the reason why this is called the instruction with five perfections lies in these reasons. This was spoken by Gyalkhampa Tāranātha, urged by the great holder of the scriptures, Palden Shakya Tenzin, the lord of speech, Lodrö Palzang, and the all-knowing Kunga Lodrö. Auspicious! Bṛya Tsa. Proofread! May the virtue of space and the powerful one be transformed into virtue by the good deeds created by the name Śrī. The Instruction Endowed with Five Perfections.
