Invite all the holy beings. Reciting only Om(藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡), Ah(藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:阿), and Hum(藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽). First, offer to the root guru, then to the lineage gurus, yidams, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, Dharma protectors, Dakinis, and guardians, thinking that they are pleased. Scatter the leftovers to the six classes of beings, satisfying them and pacifying their suffering. Then, transform the remaining offerings and resources into immeasurable amounts, offering them to all the Buddhas and the six classes of beings, thinking that they are satisfied and pleased. This is offering one's own body as a sacrifice. Now, focus the mind on all appearances. Do not cling to these impure karmic appearances as you have done before. Clinging causes one to wander in samsara. You must definitely separate from these. Because they are impermanent and decaying, clinging is of no benefit. You should not even have a gradual attachment to this nature of suffering. Because it is an illusion like a dream, when you cling to it, even the object of clinging itself is not established. You should completely let go with your mind, thinking that it is not established. This is the instruction for cutting off dependence. With devotion and longing, show respect to the Lord Maitreya who resides in Tushita. From his heart, a radiant tube of light like a conch shell emerges and extends. Visualize yourself clearly as Avalokiteshvara, entering into that tube of light. This is the instruction for finding the path. Thus, these three instructions are the preliminaries for transference of consciousness. Then, with a strong desire to transfer consciousness to Maitreya's heart, a hook-like ray of light radiates from his heart and enters the tube. Visualize yourself clearly as Avalokiteshvara, being drawn by that hook-like ray of light, instantly dissolving into Maitreya's heart. This is the main practice of visualization, so meditate on it three or four times in succession. Then, radiate out again from Maitreya's heart, visualizing yourself being born in a lotus and listening to the Dharma. This is the subsequent visualization. The third is the instruction for combining meditation in the bardo: This should be known in the bardo, and transformed into outer, inner, and secret. With the yoga of emptiness and compassion, the wise should combine the two. This means that the key to the preliminary is: All present appearances appear to be the actual bardo of existence. At this time, generate strong renunciation and desire, thinking that you must avoid confusion. There are four main points: Leave the present impure appearances as they are, and the thoughts of attachment and aversion

Since one has been born and takes birth in samsara, one should think of transforming it into a pure appearance. Whatever appears externally as form, believe it to be the body of Avalokiteśvara; whatever sound is heard, believe it to be mantra. Internally, believe your own body to be the body of Avalokiteśvara, and your speech to be mantra. Secretly, keep your own mind in suchness as taught during the meditation on the unborn nature of one's own mind. These are the three transformations. Afterwards, meditate slightly, thinking that all sentient beings of the six realms, including their environments, are actually like illusions without any truth, but they do not realize this, how pitiful! The four key points of view, meditation, conduct, and result of this very Dharma are: Whatever arises, recognize it, is the key point of view. Without distraction, abide in it, is the key point of meditation. Remembrance of equal taste is the key point of conduct. If it becomes pervasive, it is the key point of result. This is the instruction of the great accomplished one. As it is said, the abiding place of the mind, or change, or whatever arises, recognizing it as being free from grasping from the very beginning is the view. Maintaining that continuously with mindfulness and awareness is meditation. Equanimity towards all experiences of happiness, suffering, good, bad, favorable, and unfavorable is conduct. Although one must practice with effort now, when it arises naturally without effort one day, it is pervasiveness, that is, the result. The detailed meaning of these should be understood from the Great Instruction Manual composed by Khro Phu Lotsawa Jampel. This "Essential Three Meanings Instruction Manual" was also spoken by Gyalkhampa Tāranātha. Revised and completed. Auspicious! The Instruction on the Essential Three Meanings.
