Urged by the command of the great Sakya ruler, Taranatha spoke thus. Urged by the command of the great Sakya ruler, Taranatha spoke thus. Namo Gurave. Sanskrit Romanization: namo gurave, Literal Chinese meaning: Homage to the guru). Like the sun rising in the stainless sky, unobstructed wisdom pervades all knowable things. The play of uncontrived compassion constantly arises, may the incomparable lord lama bestow blessings! The characteristics of knowable things are inconceivable, and the expression of words is endless and immeasurable. Although there are many ways to show the path, grasping the essence of the key point is like this. Those with faith have no opportunity for sin, those with renunciation have no attachment or laziness, those with devotion have no separation from the Three Jewels, and those with compassion have no selfishness or intolerance. Generate definite knowledge that black and white karma is infallible. Being skilled in speech and having high aspirations, having good manners but not fearing sin, is the foundation stone of the three lower realms. Being eloquent, having a strong army, and possessing wealth, is only a temporary glory of a few years and months. When going to the next life, one is helplessly led by karma. Danger befalls the arrogant at that time. Enemies, friends, wealth, houses, servants, retinue, and so on, it is best to use them well when you have power. Because separation is certain and will come quickly, what is the benefit of losing something that cannot be recovered? Even if you obtain the wealth of gods and humans, you will not be satisfied. The three poisons of affliction increase, accumulating bad karma. When you ascend to higher realms, you fill the measure of hell. Small happiness brings great suffering. Alas! The nature of samsara is like this, if you think about it well, who would be attached to it? Friends and relatives have no hope of helping, the best refuge is the lama and the Three Jewels. Those who lack devotion are obscured by the darkness of their own minds. Meditate on faith and devotion that are free from pride and arrogance. From that, all perfect fruits arise, all dharmas are the self-image of one's own mind. The root of dharma is the acceptance and rejection of the mind. Even if you pretend to strive for dharma with the three doors of body, speech, and mind, but are immersed in the darkness of worldly temporary happiness and selfishness, then you will play with the attachment and aversion of dharma with partiality. Not understanding the true nature of one's own mind, afflictions arise. Under the control of bad karma, wander in the six realms of existence. Deceived by illusory delusions, do not be arrogant, cultivate compassion. Now, I will impart the essential key points.

Ah! There is no separate act of abandoning the elaborations of one's own mind, Sustain ordinary awareness without fabrication. In whatever arises, nakedly, establish self-awareness. Views and meditations that are deliberately fabricated are good, good, But drawings written by the intellect are blurred. If your own way of abiding does not dawn as meditation, Seeking practice elsewhere is poverty and wretchedness. If you do not know self-liberation in your own time, Then it is just following and escorting, just talk. If you do not recognize the skill of the empty source of arising, What is the use of that mere addition of dust? In the conduct of an uncomprehending, deranged madman, If you mistake the uncorrected for the natural, the root is mistaken. If you do not see the face of your own self, which is without an object of focus, Even if you abide well, it is the darkness of dullness and confusion. The self-power of the inexpressible mind is unceasing, Without losing outward glances, rest in the state of self-clarity. If whatever arises is enough, it is the best of meditation, However, do not make meaningless prophecies while in the body. Never let your own awareness become confused, Even if you are confused, it is the very peak of bliss. Always rest without an agent of action or a master, Even if you act, if the object of action is exhausted, it is freedom from elaboration. You should not seek conceptual analysis that follows after sounds, If the mind of action is liberated in its own place, it is without characteristics. The king of methods of placement is relaxed, self-satisfied. If the very essence depends on effort, then the unmade is supreme. Whether abiding or moving, the supreme method is without distraction, If you recognize the self-flaw of distraction, it is the supreme abiding. Thoughts that are merely self-arisen from the essence, And actions and efforts, arising, dissolve in their own place. If you realize it in that way, even the uncorrected naturalness, Purity in its own place, there is neither correction nor non-correction. When the object of meditation and the meditator are empty in their own place, It is said that all appearances dawn as meditation. Now, when going to those places, Know well the skillful methods of practicing the Dharma. A determination to trade obstinacy is very, very bad, One without essence falls into the abyss of error. Abandoning attachment to the ordinary body, Especially cherish destroying the clinging to truth in all appearances. If clinging to truth becomes tighter and increases, The desire to realize the nature of reality is extremely mistaken. With impartial love and compassion, Whatever you do, apply it for the benefit of others. Those who have evil thoughts and think badly of opposing enemies, Even if they say they are taking hatred as a path, it is a boastful lie. Without being bound by the craving of attachment to desire, View even the pleasing mind as like a dream. This is a deity, because it benefits me. Kha.
