Explanation of the View, Meditation, and Fruition of the Three Turnings of the Dharma Wheel Explanation of the View, Meditation, and Fruition of the Three Turnings of the Dharma Wheel Likewise, views that accord with those meditations, such as the four seals of the seal of characteristics, and viewing the infallibility of cause and effect, are the views of the first turning of the wheel. If one examines and analyzes this phenomenon of conventional dependent origination, one views it as emptiness, as well as the view of emptiness, the view of not conceptualizing anything, and so on, are the views of the intermediate turning of the wheel. Viewing the non-conceptual, all-supreme, endowed luminosity is the view of the final turning of the wheel. However, these views do not contradict each other, but rather one adds to the other, does it not? Likewise, in a state of believing in the infallibility of cause and effect, such as the sacred Dharma Vinaya and so on, as well as the precepts of discipline and so on, are the practices of the first turning of the wheel. In a state of profound emptiness, the spontaneous and unobstructed practice, as well as the precepts of samadhi and so on, are the practices of the intermediate turning of the wheel. In a state of all-supreme, endowed luminosity, practicing the great wave of benefiting others is the practice of the final turning of the wheel. However, these practices do not contradict each other, but rather one adds to the other, should they not be practiced? Thus, by practicing all of these views, meditations, and practices that add one upon the other, one attains the Buddhahood of the union of the two kayas, does one not? Is there someone who teaches this sacred Dharma? After teaching, is there someone who listens? After listening, is there someone who understands? After understanding, is there someone who puts it into practice? It is said: Rare is the one who teaches the sacred Dharma well, But even when taught, few listen to it, Even when listening, few understand it well, Even when understanding, few practice it. The first mainly shows the view of cause and effect, The second mainly shows the view of emptiness, The third mainly shows the view of luminosity, Are not all three truths in their own right? The first shows the meditation on the four truths of cause and effect, The second shows the meditation on non-conceptual emptiness, The third shows the meditation on non-conceptual luminosity, Are not all three truths in their own right? The first shows the view, meditation, practice, and result of conventional truth, The second shows the view, meditation, practice, and result of self-emptiness, The third shows the view, meditation, practice, and result of other-emptiness, Are not all three truths in their own right?

Entering the Lesser Vehicle, the first turning of the Dharma wheel was set in motion. Entering the Great Vehicle, the second turning of the Dharma wheel was set in motion. Entering all, the third turning of the Dharma wheel was set in motion. Are these three not all truths in their own way? Furthermore, it is said: The first turning of the Dharma wheel teaches the conventional truth. The second turning of the Dharma wheel teaches the self-emptiness of the conventional. The third turning of the Dharma wheel teaches the other-emptiness of the ultimate. This is a rough, general classification. The first turning of the Dharma wheel teaches the training in discipline. The third turning of the Dharma wheel mainly teaches union. This is a rough, general classification. The first turning of the Dharma wheel teaches virtuous actions with signs. The second turning of the Dharma wheel teaches signless quiescence. The third turning of the Dharma wheel teaches ultimate insight. This is a rough, general classification. The first turning of the Dharma wheel is taught to those with dull faculties. The second turning of the Dharma wheel is taught to those with middling faculties. The third turning of the Dharma wheel is taught to those with sharp faculties. This is a rough, general classification. Furthermore, it is said: The first turning of the Dharma wheel places one on the correct path. The second turning of the Dharma wheel ripens those who have entered the path. The third turning of the Dharma wheel liberates those who have been ripened. To these Dharma kings, the powerful sages, I pay homage! Although you speak of the union of the two truths, some fall to the side of mere conventionality. Others stray to the extreme of mere ultimate truth. Bless me to realize the union of the two truths! Although you speak of the union of the two accumulations, some are arrogant with mere meritorious actions with signs. Others are intoxicated with mere non-conceptual concentration. Bless me to accomplish the union of the two accumulations! Although you speak of the union of the two bodies, some hold that only the Dharmakaya is to be shown. Others say that only the Rupakaya can protect. Bless me to accomplish the union of the two bodies! In order to gradually wash away the defilements of those to be tamed, the three turnings of the Dharma wheel...
