Great Treasure of the Dakini TD2944: The Nine Snares of the Naga Demon Pacifying Activity: Release of Snares Homage to Guru Padmasambhava! This 'Nine Snares of the Naga Demon' is composed for the benefit of sentient beings. For the accumulation of this ritual: construct a square mandala with nine platforms. The center is blue-black, the east is white, the south is blue, the west is red, the north is green, and the four corners are black, surrounded by yellow. Around that, draw blue water patterns, then a black border. Outside that, draw tree patterns and the four continents and eight subcontinents. As supports, make nine mandala effigies on the nine platforms out of clay, etc. Place one central effigy, four side effigies, and four corner effigies. On top of the nine effigies on the nine platforms, place nine black horsemen. Prepare nine blue-black skies with black edges, nine blue-black turquoise stones, yellow arrow shafts, black feathered arrows adorned with turquoise, and nine male masks. Prepare offerings of grains, etc., and nine black tormas. Place nine each of the following on the nine effigies: black yaks, black dzos, black birds, black dogs, black sheep, speckled snakes, speckled frogs, speckled fish, speckled lizards, and speckled scorpions. Surround the mandala with twenty-eight effigies tainted with the impurities of the patient and their family. Arrange incense, golden libation, the three whites (milk, yogurt, butter), the three sweets (honey, molasses, sugar), the three reds (saffron, vermilion, madder), and various sensory offerings. Prepare one life-basis offering for all the gods and demons of existence. Direct each of the nine black horsemen's arrow quivers towards each horseman, tying one end of each quiver to the patient's neck, thereby releasing each naga demon's snare. Smear herbal ash on the patient and blend it into the effigy. Perform one water offering. Then, recite the activity text of either Hayagriva, Vajrapani, or Garuda. Meditate that you are the deity and recite: ‘Kye! Initially, from the state of emptiness, Arise dust and atoms. Upon that, a golden foundation forms, Upon that, Mount Meru arises. Surrounded by the four continents and eight subcontinents, Relying on the five precious elements. This continent is the excellent Jambudvipa, Its shape resembles a spread-out ox tongue. Accommodating gods, nagas, and the eight classes, Also causing harm to beings. Upwards, offer harmonious samaya substances. Kye! Among the eight classes, those of fierce disposition, Are the nine brothers, the black naga demons. Dwelling where rocks and springs converge, And at the confluence of three valleys. In the mandala of the five precious substances, on the seat of coiled poisonous snakes, invite the venerable Klu Dud (klu bdud) to enjoy the ransom. Various offerings are arranged as follows: Set out nine sets of offerings and ransom, offer viewing items and golden wine, and invite the Klu Dud to descend and enjoy. By the command of Vajrapani (Phyag na rdo rje), on the seat of coiled black snakes, respectfully request the venerable Klu Dud to reside. To the nine brothers of the venerable Klu Dud, due to our ignorance and delusion, if there is anything that goes against your wishes, we confess and repent with a remorseful heart. To please the nine brothers of the venerable Klu Dud, we offer substitute ransom, blessed by accumulating numerous sets of nine offerings and ransom, and clear samadhi. Transform it at will through mantra and mudra, liberate and proclaim with truthful words. This supreme ransom with five desirable qualities is offered to the Klu Dud and its retinue, and we pray that it be accepted with joy. Please release the bound ropes, do not violate the command of Vajrapani. Even if there are past grievances, offer harmonious offerings and ransom, and pray that they be accepted with joy. May the great ransom lord enjoy the ransom, may the great substitute lord enjoy the substitute, please pacify the malice of harm. Then, untie the curse rope: Alas! The eldest brother of the nine-headed Klu Dud, the black Klu Dud Ti pa tsa. To its retinue, offer harmonious offerings and ransom. A decorated palace, black people, black horses, black sky, black arrows, black darts, those with beautiful faces and cheerful smiles, abundant black food, black cows, black yaks, black birds, black dogs, black sheep, black snakes, frogs, fish, frogs, crabs, and intense ransom, perfume, golden wine, and the three whites, three sweets, three reds, medicinal herbs, viewing items, and various offerings. May the great ransom lord enjoy the ransom, may the great substitute lord enjoy the substitute. Please release the owner of this offering from the bondage of ropes, pacify the malicious diseases, do not violate the command of Vajrapani, abide by the samaya, return to your respective abodes.
