The Black Hayagriva Iron Garland Sadhana from the Secret Gathering of Hayagriva, called 'A Garland of Fire,' hidden as a Southern Treasure Fruit Teaching. Ra Ling Black Hayagriva. Treasure Text. Homage to the glorious Padma Heruka! I, Padmasambhava, am the essence of Hayagriva. Therefore, I teach this black Hayagriva sadhana. This has three parts: first, gathering the substances; second, the sadhana; and third, the application of activities. First, in a charnel ground or other solitary place, in the center of the mandala, draw a triangular dharma source, dark blue, with a red crescent moon. Outside of that, draw four petals. Outside of that, surround it with a garland of skulls, complete with porticos and doors. In the center of the mandala, place a vase filled with substances, with a dark blue neck ribbon. On top of that, place a torma sprinkled with spices, marked with a blazing jewel and a horse head, and arrange lotus petals and longevity pills. Also, arrange whatever torma offerings and feast offerings are available. Arrange four arrows, four knives, and a net of colored threads. Second, the sadhana: Take refuge, generate bodhichitta, and give a torma to the obstructing forces. Purify with Svabhava. From emptiness, visualize the mandala and vase as being non-existent. From that, arise a palace equal to the sky, dark blue-black, blazing with flames, square with four doors, complete with horse heads. In the center of that, on top of the four maras and five kinds of nagas intertwined, on top of a sun and moon lotus seat, visualize yourself as the essence of awareness, Hrih (藏文:ཧྲཱིཿ,梵文天城體:ह्रीः,梵文羅馬擬音:hrīḥ, 惭愧,种子字), dark blue-black, blazing with light, radiating light, making offerings to the victorious ones, pleasing them; purifying the sins and obscurations of all sentient beings; subduing all the malevolent nagas and the eight classes of beings; gathering them back in and transforming them into: Maha Krodha Hayagriva Hum (藏文:མ་ཧཱ་ཀྲོ་དྷ་ཧ་ཡ་གྲཱི་ཝ་ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城體:महाक्रोध हयग्रीव हूँ,梵文羅馬擬音:mahākrodha hayagrīva hūṃ,Great Wrathful Hayagriva Hum). From this, you become Black Hayagriva, body dark blue-black, one face, two arms, three eyes glaring in anger, rolling like blood, mouth open, tongue curled, four sharp fangs bared, the head crowned with a green mane of horse heads neighing. The right hand holds aloft a blazing sword with a vajra hilt, cutting the heads and bodies of enemies and obstructing forces into pieces; the left hand holds an iron hook and a lasso. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With feet suppressing the lord of enemies and obstacles, guiding from the depths of the heart, with both feet posed in a discarding stance, the upper body adorned with the essence of fields, and the lower body clad in a tiger skin skirt, over which is draped an elephant hide and a large black silk cloak, the head crowned with five dry skulls, the body adorned with five types of snakes, a necklace of black outcaste skin, and a necklace of fifty blood-dripping human heads, black iron hair bound at the crown and hanging down the back to the heels, from the shaking hair, numerous tiny wrathful deities emerge like stars, scattering and destroying all enemies, obstacles, nagas, demons, and harmful beings into ashes. From every pore of one's own body, countless tiny wrathful deities emerge, faces turned outward, filling every space, wheels of various weapons spinning, amidst a blazing red-black fire, intoning the sound of 'I ha hi,' contemplate abiding in this state. Then, on the eastern petal, visualize the white Hayagriva (Buddhist guardian deity) whose form is similar to the main deity, the right hand raising a sword adorned with a wheel, and the left hand holding an iron hook. To the south is the yellow Hayagriva of merit, the right hand holding a sword adorned with jewels, and the left hand holding a lasso. To the west is the red Hayagriva of speech, the right hand holding a sword adorned with a lotus, and the left hand holding the iron chain of power. To the north is the green Hayagriva of activity, the right hand holding a sword adorned with a crossed vajra, and the left hand holding a bell. These attendants, like the main deity, are adorned with robes and charnel ground attire appropriate to their respective directions, and all have green horse heads on their crowns, emitting loud neighing sounds. Having completed the stage of generating the visualization in this way, next is the stage of reciting the mantra: On the crown of each of the five deities, the main deity and the retinue, visualize a white Om (Tibetan: ཨོཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओम्, Sanskrit Romanization: om, Literal meaning: perfection), at the throat a red Ah (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: आः, Sanskrit Romanization: āḥ, Literal meaning: arising), and at the heart a clear blue Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal meaning: immovable), from which the three syllables emit light, blessing body, speech, and mind. From the seed syllable Hrīḥ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal meaning: great compassion) at the heart of the main deity, rays of light emanate, inviting the wisdom being identical to oneself from the palace of great bliss and power, contemplate that the main deity and the retinue are inseparable like water merging into water. Om Hūṃ Trāṃ Hrīḥ Āḥ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཧཱུྃ་ཏྲཱཾ་ཧྲཱིཿཨཱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओम् हुं त्राम् ह्रीः आः, Sanskrit Romanization: om hūṃ trāṃ hrīḥ āḥ, Literal meaning: perfection, immovable, deliverance, great compassion, arising), empower with the nature of the five wisdoms, as a sign of empowerment, the horse head emits three neighing sounds, subduing the three realms, overwhelming the three existences, gathering the dakinis, and cutting off all the nagas, earth lords, and fierce evil ones. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
