Collected Teachings of Tāranātha JT359: Explanation of Auspiciousness. Explanation of Auspiciousness. Explanation of Auspiciousness. Oṃ Svāsti. May auspiciousness arise from all auspiciousness, the most wonderful auspiciousness! Possessing the ultimate goodness of virtue! By the splendor of the three jewels, may all beings seeking happiness and well-being find happiness! Here, wishing to express auspiciousness, let us speak of the auspiciousness of the Three Jewels. The term "possessing perfection" refers to the perfection of the Dharma body, the perfection of the Form body, and the perfection of activity. The one who possesses the extraordinary and unparalleled perfection is the Buddha. The wisdom that is free from attachment and obstruction to any Dharma, the complete abandonment of all obscurations along with their roots, and the great compassion that is without object, are the perfection of the Dharma body. The perfection of the signs and marks, the unlimited power, and the possession of the sixty qualities of speech are the perfection of the Form body. The removal of the suffering of all beings and the establishment in the excellent perfection, these two are the perfection of activity. The term "like a golden mountain" means that the body is of excellent color and possesses splendor, so it is like a golden mountain; or that the essence is extremely good and is not moved by any condition, so it is like an immovable golden mountain. This shows that the Buddha himself, because of his goodness, has great compassion, the all-knowing wisdom that engages with all knowable things, and unobstructed power; and because of his stability, he manifests as the eternal and unchanging Yungdrung body. That which is perfect and indestructible is the supreme perfection, and therefore it is likened to a golden mountain. The protector of the three realms is the supreme refuge and savior of all, which is activity. The three stains are desire, hatred, and ignorance, and these, along with their habitual tendencies, have been completely abandoned. Like the fully opened petals of a blooming lotus, the one who possesses the eye of wisdom that is greatly expanded and open to all knowable things is the Buddha.

To abandon the three stains is to be "awakened," and to possess eyes is to mean "growth." Furthermore, the term "Buddha" (Tibetan: བུདྡྷཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: बुद्ध, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: buddhaḥ, literal Chinese meaning: Buddha) is derived from "Mohani Dra Pramarda Prabuddha Purushavata" (Tibetan: མོ་ཧ་ནཱི་དྲཱ་པྲ་མརྡ་པྲ་བུདྡྷ་པུ་རུ་ཥ་བ་ཏ།), which means that because one has awakened from the sleep of ignorance, it is like a person awakening from sleep. Therefore, "Buddha" has the meaning of awakening; "Buddharbi Kasanaata Buddha Bibuddha Padma Vata" (Tibetan: བུདྡྷརྦི་ཀཱ་སཱ་ནཱཏ་བུདྡྷ་བི་བུདྡྷ་པདྨ་བ་ཏ།), which means that because wisdom expands and grows, it is like a lotus flower opening. Therefore, "Buddha" has the meaning of growth. This is the foremost of all auspicious things in the world, and there is nothing superior to it, and all happiness in the world and beyond arises from the power of the Buddha Bhagavan. What He closely taught, etc., is the Dharma taught by the Teacher. The Dharma of expression is the words, speech, and sounds that express it; the Dharma to be expressed is of three kinds: related to acceptance and rejection, it is the Dharma to be accomplished—the path; what is to be attained is the truth of cessation—the fruit; what is to be realized is the true limit of the nature of Dharma. Superior and most superior mean not inverted and without error. Unwavering means that in the meaning of the doctrine, it is not shaken by others pointing out faults; in the Dharma of the path, it is not shaken by being regarded as disposable; the fruit cannot possibly decline, so it is unwavering; likewise, suchness, in reality, does not allow for the pointing out of faults, so it is unwavering. What is known in the three realms, the teachings that are not Buddhist may be well-known in the human realm, but other beings may not respect them, or even if they are slightly pleased, it is not all. However, the teachings of the Tathagata are praised by all who are wise and virtuous in the heavens, on earth, and below, such as the gods like Brahma and Ishvara, the renunciates like Kunnadi Kumara, and the powerful and well-known Brahmins like the Sage Vashistha, who doubt their own wisdom but trust and praise the teachings of the Tathagata. Therefore, the gods like Indra and their retinues,
