To establish oneself in pure morality, and through listening and explaining, to perfect the conduct of those to be tamed, and to generate various kinds of wisdom, if one's mind is without distraction and is seized by bodhicitta, that is a great act of benefiting others. Furthermore, by abiding in the foundation of morality, one can establish oneself in samadhi, wisdom, and the purity arising from meditation. Even if someone only generates a pure view of emptiness, it is still more beneficial to others than those who claim to hold hundreds of thousands of collections of scriptures that are only based on listening and thinking. Compared to generating a semblance of samadhi, if one can listen to and contemplate the pure teachings of the Buddha, that is a hundred thousand times better, that is the ultimate benefit to others, that is the greatest. A great meditator who only pretends to be good with falsehood, and an emptiness practitioner who despises the results of karma, and a peaceful abiding that accumulates dull meditation, these three are the great causes of the destruction of the holy Dharma. Furthermore, if one does not have the qualities of realization arising from meditation, but pretends to be the lama of others, is this not a very serious fault? There are two aspects to this: if it is because one desires one's own gain, respect, and fame, and is under the control of attachment and hatred towards oneself and others, then it is the foundation of falling into lower realms. On the other hand, if one sincerely cherishes the thought of benefiting the teachings and the sangha, and actually benefits others, one should avoid as much as possible things that are not suitable for enjoying, such as offerings of faith, and transform all resources into virtuous deeds. If a small amount of things that cannot be avoided are beneficial to others, one should be willing to take the blame upon oneself, and exchange oneself for others. And if one thinks that this is an inappropriate action, one should strive to confess and purify obscurations. That is how one goes on the special conduct of a Bodhisattva. Some people think that most of the other-regarding actions of ordinary people are meaningless, isn't that so? This is because they are thinking of the fact that there are few who can actually lead others to the path of liberation and omniscience. Otherwise, once a connection with the Dharma is made, it is impossible for it to be meaningless in the end. Furthermore, if one becomes attached to oneself in the situation of benefiting others, even if one has the highest samadhi, one will fall, let alone others. To destroy that attachment, one must think like this: conventional

Of objects Even though everything appears to be non-existent, what could be more ridiculous than generating pride and a sense of superiority? It's like boasting as a king after obtaining a kingdom in a dream. Even if you truly possess these things, considering the deeds of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, your accomplishments are insignificant. There is also no reason to claim it's for the benefit of others. The immediate wealth and enjoyment are no different from a wicked person heading to hell! Therefore, you must remind yourself of this. Furthermore, if you become tired and lazy from practicing and benefiting others, you should think like this: The victorious ones and their sons have given away their bodies and kingdoms countless times for the sake of others. They have stood on one foot for the sake of Samadhi, remaining in that posture for eighty thousand years, and so on. With your abilities, how can you possibly attain Bodhi? You are capable of doing anything for food, clothing, wealth, and fame, but you cannot endure even a little hardship for the Dharma. Is this the extent of your abilities? You should remind yourself of this. Here it is said: If you are too sad, you will become depressed. That is also not helpful, so cherish joy. Having obtained a human body and encountered the sacred Dharma, and being cared for by the Guru, what could be more joyful than this? If you are too happy, you will become distracted and unrestrained. Suppress it by meditating on renunciation. If you become discouraged, you should encourage yourself like this: If you practice properly, even with the body of an animal, you can definitely enter the path to supreme Bodhi. Why can't I? You should think like this. If arrogance arises, reflect honestly on your own situation, and this will pacify your arrogance. All phenomena are empty in nature, without good or bad, high or low, happiness or suffering, existence or non-existence. If you remain equally in the expanse free from elaboration, all obstacles and faults will be naturally liberated. This is the close instruction of Gyal Khampa Tara Natha. May this wondrous and sacred Dharma enter your heart. May the king who bears the name of Shakya also definitely receive blessings. May you accomplish the vast benefit of yourself and others in the vast eastern realm, quickly rely on the Guru, and work for the Dharma. Mangalam!
