The praises are extensive and cannot be fully recorded here. Simultaneously recite the Five Praises (too numerous to include). Each person kneels reverently, bowing once for each verse recited. Once the bathing and offerings are complete, the Acarya (Sanskrit, meaning teacher) takes the fragrant water used to bathe the Buddha, sprinkles it on their own head, and also sprinkles it on the heads of all present. This fragrant water is used to bathe all the saints, possessing the auspicious blessings of myriad virtues and adornments. Sprinkling it on the body and drinking a small amount can gradually diminish afflictions within the body, ultimately leading to the attainment of Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (Sanskrit, meaning supreme enlightenment). The assembly simultaneously pays homage reverently. Then, blow the conch shell again and recite praises such as the vows, practices, and auspiciousness. Guided by the sounds of music, the assembly proceeds, circumambulating the Buddha image three or seven times in a clockwise direction, according to their rank and seniority, reciting wonderful verses from the Mahayana sutras praising the Buddha. After the Dharma service is complete, they bow and bid farewell to the Buddha image, which is then carried by someone back to its original place. This is the customary practice of bathing the Buddha image in the West. Only then can the Sangha (Sanskrit, meaning monastic community) go to the hall to receive their meal. Alas, how sad! There is no one here who knows these practices. The Buddha image is never bathed throughout its life, being smoked by incense and covered in dust, defiled by crows and rats. This is the case throughout the country, and no one seems to understand. Even if someone does bathe the Buddha image, they follow ignorant customs, creating a naked Buddha image and placing it in a water vessel, washing it with a small ladle, with a disrespectful and frivolous attitude, showing no reverence and instead incurring the sin of negligence. Alas! They do not know the great merit of the field of reverence (referring to the Three Jewels: Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha)! May discerning gentlemen, wise individuals, and those who fear sin and seek blessings pay special attention to this practice. Even if one cannot bathe the Buddha image every day, it can be done once a month. The extraordinary benefits obtained are as spoken by the golden mouth of the Tathagata (Sanskrit, meaning Buddha) in the Sutra on Bathing the Buddha Image. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
