English version The Homa Ritual for the Big Dipper (also known as the Prosperous Light Ritual) Composed by Yi Xing The Auspicious Mantra says: Namo ratna-trayāya (obeisance to the Triple Gem) Namo sarva-graha-nakṣatra-rājāya jatudhipa-aloka-rāyad-tadyathā anumati-prati anumati sambhinna-khe śvāhā. Big Dipper Mudra (hand gesture): The fire and space fingers of the left and right hands are intertwined and pressed together. The water fingers are joined and point forward. The earth and wind fingers are extended. This mudra is immediately formed (from the Atavaka Sutra, or so it is said in oral traditions). The mantra says: Om sapta-nām indriya bhiṣajyāya jambudvīpa mama (name) rakṣa bhavatu svāhā. Sun Deity Mudra: First, join the palms. The tips of the four fingers below the wind finger touch each other. Open the front widely. Each space finger touches the side of the wind finger. The mantra says: Namo ratna-trayāya Namo sūrya sarva-nakṣatra-rājāya Om amogha (name) śakti svāhā. Moon Deity Mudra: The samadhi hand (left hand) has the fire and space fingers pressed together.
